On Sunday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) appeared on CNNs State of the Union, where he called President Obamas Friday comments on Trayvon Martin and race very impressive. He said, I think we should continue to make progress, but added that we still have a long way to go, even as he declined to second guess the verdict in the George Zimmerman case.
McCain stated that we were probably too optimistic about race relations in the aftermath of the election of the countrys first black president. I think old prejudices die hard, McCain said. We have made significant progress, but I think recent events highlight the differences that remain. McCain also said he believed that Stand Your Ground laws should be reconsidered in light of the Martin case, despite the fact that Stand Your Ground was never invoked by Zimmerman and he was acquitted on grounds of self-defense.

The republican party managers do not represent the better interests of our nation: they represent the party. They will do what it takes to gain office; that’s that.
“Barack Obama is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.”
I’m not sure about senity, but I’m pretty sure senility is covered.
Don't know when his term's up, but hopefully the good people of Arizona are seriously thinking about this latest foolish "maverick-ness" from McCain. It's not like the "fate" of the Union is a party game, and IMHO he's just an incompetent Senate creature after all these years in Washington D.C....("my friend" indeed - BS!!)
Enough McCain
So when is the next election for McCain? It is not soon enough.
Seriously, WTF?!?!?
I think the folks from Arizona should seriously consider a recall. McCain is no longer capable of representing the people of Arizona.
Ditto for Romney.
Obviously, Bozo is an absolute disaster, but I am so happy this ahole McCain was never elected POTUS.ppl What a jerk he turned out to be!
Too late
Great post, and link...couldn’t agree more!
GAK!! See, that is what I was trying to avoid!!
How and why do people still keep voting for this turd???
I mean here in NY I can understand, but I gave Arizona a little more credit than that.
It’s too damn bad that the VC didn’t do better work.
He needs to be removed from the Republican Party. Republican Senators and Congressmen need to publicly call him out and state that McCain’s views do not represent the Republican Party. McCain has overstayed his welcome.
“Bon mots”, indeed...and pictures speak louder than “mots”...LOL! It’s just too bad these pix are so close to the truth of MSNBC, etc’s reportage.
