Helen Thomas, whose career covering the White House dated back to the Kennedy administration, died on Saturday at the age of 92, the Gridiron Club announced in an email to members on Saturday.
Thomas was the the first woman to join the White House Correspondents' Association, and the first woman to serve as its president. She was also the first female member of the Gridiron Club, Washington's historic press group.
Present at the press briefings of ten consecutive presidential administrations, Thomas's career in journalism ended in 2010 after controversial remarks she made about Israeli Jews were caught on camera.
"Former Gridiron Club president Helen Thomas, our first female member, died Saturday morning at her Washington apartment after a long illness," Gridiron's Susan L. Hahn wrote in an email to members. "She would have been 93 next month."

I saw Helen Thomas recorded once saying she believed Vince Foster was murdered and that it happened right there in the White House (her exact words) She was half right on that. VWF was indeed murdered, but the murder didn't occur at the White House. The venue was a Washington office a few blocks away, to which VWF was lured on the pretext of a media interview. He walked over there and had no chance.
Maybe the timing of Helen Thomas' death is a bit ironic, because today is the 20th anniversary of the Foster rubout.

When the writer referred to her as a “trailblazing reporter” he meant that she covered Lewis & Clark

The Jewish custom is to only say good about the dead, so...
She’s dead. Good.

Thanks for the decorum - it never sounds good or right when someone slams the dead. Hope she was saved and just struggling with human issues through her career (as do most of us) - God makes all good and pure and I hope she has secured her salvation.

Heinriich Himmler was similarly a trailblazer.

It's not my habit to make jokes of the dead (I'm sure others will be happy to do so). May God have mercy on her soul. Nor is it mine. That is why this "Lord have mercy" will be my only participation on this thread.
I expect many FReepers will bring shame (and condemnation) upon themselves. Seen it too many times.

Praising those who have done evil is a bad thing.
She was a “trailblazer” but where was that trail leading?
I’m sorry she died without apologizing for lying and misleading people publicly for decades.
