Helen Thomas, whose career covering the White House dated back to the Kennedy administration, died on Saturday at the age of 92, the Gridiron Club announced in an email to members on Saturday.
Thomas was the the first woman to join the White House Correspondents' Association, and the first woman to serve as its president. She was also the first female member of the Gridiron Club, Washington's historic press group.
Present at the press briefings of ten consecutive presidential administrations, Thomas's career in journalism ended in 2010 after controversial remarks she made about Israeli Jews were caught on camera.
"Former Gridiron Club president Helen Thomas, our first female member, died Saturday morning at her Washington apartment after a long illness," Gridiron's Susan L. Hahn wrote in an email to members. "She would have been 93 next month."
Didn’t agree with her on much if anything.
But I did admire her tenacity.
RIP Helen Thomas
“Helen wasnt always anti Semitic, that only started after Moses drowned her Egyptian boyfriend.”
Now that’s funny I don’t care who you are.
She just had dark brown eyes. They stood out in the photo.
Time really took it’s toll on her over the years.
It's already been revised...twice, but, for posterity:
The original:
The update (also removed):
People need to know that it's best to wait a little while after an event to hack Wiki.
It has nothing to do with the color of her eyes. It’s the evil in them.
No, and no, and that is so sad for her.
Good riddance to a gun grabbing commie.
While I don’t think she was attractive, I don’t think she was all that bad looking either. People, when they animate, change their appearance. She may have been charming at that time in her life.
We definitely saw the bad side of her. There may have been a good one at some point in time. I’d imagine she had friends when she died. They probably saw something in her that they liked.
At any rate, she’s gone. An era more or less goes with her.
Hillary, the half-asleep one.
Helen’s days as an oxygen thief are done.
May God have mercy upon her soul. RIP Helen. That’s the best I can do.
But we will now have to endure a parade of Rinos getting facetime telling the world how much they admired her. Tomorrow talk shows will be a love fest for her.
I don’t see evil in them, but perhaps you’re picking up on something I’m not.
Yeah, but the smell at the voting booth will make you wretch as much as her photo whilst alive!
“Real nice to see that Free Republic is keeping it classy this morning.”
Not that we should in her case. However we are adults and not apes, and this person has a family that has lost a member and that is never something to rejoice over.
She was not a a trailblazing reporter.
She was an activist hack who hid behind the word reporter.
And should be remembered as such.
How can they tell?
Satan finally had to let her in.
Now that she is dead, I really don’t have anything to say. Probably be the same when Jimmuh dies.
