George Zimmerman was acquitted of killing Trayvon Martin, a New Orleans attorney complained to me Monday, because the prosecution didn't want to win a conviction. The attorney, who has worked at Tulane and Broad as an assistant district attorney and as a defense lawyer, called me to say that he's handled hundreds of homicide cases over his career and that he's never seen prosecutors who want to win make the series of missteps that the Florida prosecutors made. So he's convinced they lost on purpose. He offered six reasons for his belief that the state threw the case.

I think the race baiters know that an acquittal is just what they need. I suspect that the acquittal was already part of the script, and they knew it.

As to Rachel Jeantel, a dollar to a donut that the prosecution did attempt to properly prepare her; they must have learned that, if asked, she would have testified that Trayvon told her on the cell phone call that he perceived GZ to be a homosexual rapist on the prowl (this is what he meant by “creepy @$$ cracker”), thereby explaining the real reason that Trayvon attacked GZ.
As this would have destroyed their case, they had to tiptoe around it. Of course, Rachel, the kid with the 3.0 GPA, was functionally illiterate and was a horrible witness; there wasn’t anything the prosecution could do about that.
