Sadly, that’s probably the case.
You’d probably be in some trouble for “brandishing” even if you felt your life was being threatened.

Really, if the lefties want to reduce the number of self-defense shootings, they should change the law so that someone cannot be charged with a crime for deterring an attack by letting them know you WILL shoot them if they press their attack.

I think his advice stemmed more from the idea of tactical safety ie you should not show your weapon unless you were ready to use it and that any hesitation might allow your opponent an opportunity to bear their own weapon or disarm you.

He stated it to me in the sense of being an absolute for emphasis of his point but I know he didn't mean it to literally be an absolute. It would be quite possible to see a reversal of mindset in the aggressor in that split second and take control of the situation without firing. But the onus should be on their behavior to alter a decision you have already made. Communicated quickly and unambiguously! lol
