In that case, anyone with a northeast accent (like myself) had best avoid the word entirely.
So many levels there.
Lack of intellect is obviously a big one. Not sure how much more "educated" she could be.
Much of it appears to be environmental too. The way she speaks, forms words, etc. She likely never had anyone in the home to speak TO HER in a proper way that she could emulate.
I have said this before, it’s a power trip. I CAN SAY THIS AND YOU CAN’T. That is all it is.
I was working in a public housing area one day when a group of perhaps 6 black kids walked by, laughing and joking as they walked. The kids were boys and girls, about 12 to 14 years old. Suddenly, one boy turned around and punched another boy in the head, knocking him down. No more blows were thrown and the grounded kid got up and continued walking with the group. Within seconds the group was laughing and talking again.
On average, young black people are emotionally more volatile and quicker to violence than whites. Common sense tells me that whites should avoid using words and being in situations that will give added acceptability to violence from a black person.
Beginning to warm up to the idea Jeantel actually accomplished something. She got an innocent man acquitted. She showcased that urban black culture is crude. She acknowledged Trayvon struck first, and she gave reasons for his actions (belief Zimmerman was either a molester and/or a cop).
And now perhaps her greatest service yet. Reintroduction of public use of the word nigger.
My mother taught me properly it is a very rude word and not to be directed at anyone. However, refusal to print or repeat the word is a more recent phenomenon, which I maintain started with coverage of the OJ Simpson trial.
No word is worthy of being treated with such fear that it cannot be heard.
Funnier because it wad June Cleaver LOL
Let's start with her admission that she can't read cursive.
RE: No word is worthy of being treated with such fear that it cannot be heard.
There actually is one word devout Jews fear to even spell.
Don’t be a niggardly nagger about Niger.
Can you imagine any employer wanting to hire Ms.Jeantel to do anything? At close to 20 years of age she is functionally illiterate, cannot communicate in any language but Ebonics and likely has no particular skills. In addition she has an “attitude” and probably no work ethic. Even with a full ride scholarship to a Black college she would fail. I would bet that in the very near future she will be a single mother living on the public dole popping out more kids just like Trayvon.
The original meaning of the word "cracker" came from the Irish Gaelic verb, "craic", meaning to yak, to gab, to shoot the breeze, to buzz, et cetera. A "big talker" or "yakker" or even a "loudmouth" could be known as a "craicer." There were many Gaelic-speaking Irish and Scots-Irish immigrants in the south during colonial times and in the first two centuries of the USA.
The terms "craic" and "craicer" are still common slang in Ireland, and to a lesser extent, the rest of the UK. Here are some current examples from the UK DailyMail, including Obama's recent use of the word to ingratiate himself to Irish university students.
Well now that we ALL know that it's just an everyday whoop ass we be gettin', there's no need to pull a gun, we'll survive it....true dat
By NEA standards this 19 yr old who can't read script has a 3.0 grade point average. Publik skools are child abuse.
It means I can call a black person a nigga, and they won’t get upset? Somebody try that out for me, will ya?
Now THAT's funny!
I disagree. I think she completely realized it and feels horribly guilty, causing her not to attend the funeral to face the parents and other mourners, and did not want to testify. She was not too dumb to play dumb.
Time to post this oldie but goodie again:
