I’m two counties away from Sanford and our sheriff told me we were at a 40 year low on violent crime and almost the lowest since crime stats have been kept in the county. So Eric Holder is a liar. SYG had nothing to do with the case between Zimmerman and Martin but it sure keeps the violent crime rates low.

That was not a "stand your ground" situation.

"Stand your ground" laws say that you do not have to retreat from an attack if you have the option.

When you're lying on your back with somebody on top of you slamming your head onto a hard surface, you don't have an opportunity to retreat.

In that situation, it is a basic human right to defend yourself in any way possible without relying upon the "stand your ground" laws.

As usual, Holder is FOS.

Not your job to write the laws a##hole, it’s your job to enforce them.

The operative word being “Stand” your ground.

There was no standing here. He was as flat on his back as Katie Couric

Yeah; those blacks are not used to having to worry about Whitey having a gun; now they're scared shitless as they do their routine beatdowns, robberies, rapes, auto theft, etc.

Too bad the Right to Bear Arms is still in effect, because THAT is what they want to eliminate.

They KNOW that the populace is arming itself, and they are buying bullets by the billions for the Gubmint, because they KNOW it ain't gonna be that easy to quell the disgust and anger that these "Progressives" have created.

The opposite of “stand your ground” is “grovel before your barbarian masters.”

You have to do this in Massholechusetts, you know.

Trayvon Martin now officially identified as phase 3 of going after guns.

Admin said next time (this time) tie in a racial component we can exploit to it.

Holder knows this wasn’t a SYG case. It was a self-defense case.

Sure. Let the physically strong dominate and bully the physically weak without fear of retribution.

The illiterate racist running the DOJ is incapable of recognizing that "stand your ground" was never invoked for this case. When can we have his incompetent butt fired?

Haven’t had the chance to read all the posts, so someone else may have already made this point, but...

The right and duty of self-defense is the first law of nature. This right is God-given and therefore unalienable.

“Among the natural rights of the Colonists are these: First, a right to life; Secondly, to liberty; Thirdly, to property; together with the right to support and defend them in the best manner they can. These are evident branches of, rather than deductions from, the duty of self-preservation, commonly called the first law of nature. … it is the greatest absurdity to suppose it in the power of one, or any number of men, at entering into society, to renounce their essential natural rights, or the means of preserving those rights; when the grand end of civil government, from the very nature of its institution, is for the support, protection, and defense of those very rights; the principal of which, as is before observed, are Life, Liberty, and Property. If men, through fear, fraud, or mistake, should in terms renounce or give up any essential natural right, the eternal law of reason and the grand end of society would absolutely vacate such renunciation. The right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of man to alienate this gift and voluntarily become a slave.”

– Samuel Adams, The Rights of the Colonists, The Report of the Committee of Correspondence to the Boston Town Meeting, Nov. 20, 1772
