Anyone in this city with damage to life or property should sue this city government for failure of duty to protect its citizens. For the umpteenth millionth time: The police are under NO, nada, zip, zilch, zero, duty to protect citizens; not even when they're in uniform, not even when they're on duty. SCOTUS has routinely upheld this and ruled AGAINST the plaintiffs.
The duty and responsibility of protection relies in the individual citizen, not the police.

I have to attend workshop in Downtown LA on Friday. Hope this is blown over pretty much by then. I just remember the Rodney King riots seemed to escalate day by day. Hope this is not the same.
