Come to think about it, I've never seen a computer sold that wasn't in admin mode.

Yes it is always up to the owner to set up user accounts and your right many people never do.

Of course if you are always logged in as administrator it leaves the computer wide open to viruses and Trojans.

It's not only porn; a friend is addicted to movies and has illegally downloaded thousands of them (non-porn general movies). His wife never sees him but she doesn't care.

If your friend is getting his movies from a file sharing site he probably has downloaded hundreds of viruses/Trojans/worms.

You should try Ubuntu, then.

It's picky about admin mode. E.g., I wanted to be root, but VLC wouldn't run as root. No movies. That would be bad. So, I had to sed getuid to getpid to fix it.

P.S. It's not only porn; a friend is addicted to movies and has illegally downloaded thousands of them (non-porn general movies).

Computers are supposed to do what you tell them. Uppity computers must be debugged! The nerve of VLC!!

Computers, like guns, are just tools. Should George Zimmerman sue Kel-Tec for saving his life and getting him into a boat-load of trouble?

True. At the same time, if you're an alcoholic, it isn't wise to work at a bar.

The question is above my pay grade. I’d bet that porn consumes huge amounts of bandwidth though.

A couple of years ago, Forbes ran a piece shedding some light on that. About 4% of sites are porn, and about 13% of searches are for erotic content.

this attorney (no longer allowed to practice because of mental incapacity/ mental disorder) can still file nuisance suits like this one against Apple because Apple devices can show him porn. . . Which caused him . . . Well everything he can think of —PING!

Oh, he just got arrested for stalking a Country Western singer and sending him a semi-dressed picture of himself draped in an American Flad drenched in what looks like blood

Apple Ping!

If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.

This is a case where the presiding judge needs to roll up a newspaper and hit the lawyer who took the case on the nose, saying "NO!"

The guy is mentally ill and is representing himself. He has a law degree from Vanderbilt University but it has been suspended.

Ultimately, the most beautiful woman, if you stay married to her long enough, goes through menopause and might even have health problems...I keep mentioning Rush, but he married first a woman 20-30' then another the same age. Then a third 20-30 when he was in his mid forties, and now again, a woman of the 20-30 in his sixties.

Mameluke? Rush's wife Kathryn is not 20-30, she is 36. The dentist he was discussing FIRED his competent dental assistant because she was too attractive and he did not want the temptation. His wife was jealous, I think. In any case, the assistant sued for wrongful termination. . . based on sex discrimination. . . and lost.

Now young boys can easily view some pretty disturbing things very easily online.

I wonder if there's any connection between what you observed here and the plethora of ads (apparently aimed at women) for "make $$$$ at home just using your laptop." I can't help but wonder that the laptop must necessarily be equipped with a Webcam.

Right. That bit of information changes the story substantially, from a laughable wacky lawsuit story to the sad rantings — though better written than most schizophrenics’ Web sites — of a man with a delusional mental illness.

And this was a story worth several days of discussion? A stupid dentist, his wife, a fired emplyee worth so much discussion about relative attractiveness? Rush marries women in their late twenties to early thirties. He's been married to his present wife for a few years now. Rush is in his early sixties. This age is a woman's prime and he's never had a relationship with a woman not in her prime of youth.

He's a wealthy and powerful man and can afford this serial marriage. I wouldn't be bringing it up except that its getting tiresome, his berating of women not sufficiently attractive. It reveals something quite unpleasant about himself, and an aspect I'd rather not see. He thinks he has to drive home the point of Hilary's unattractiveness constantly, as if he's saying something original. I miss the better discussions that dont involve his manderings about women and the fault they bear-he thinks-for ruining his favorite spectator sport of football. I also roll my eyes when he thinks he has something wise to say about marriage and the failure of attractiveness of women, when he just constantly replaces the older model with a newer.

It's one of his more tiresome pet issues, one of his undeniable truths of life. Only women in their prime years of attractiveness are worth any attention. Anything else is just carping feminism. Sheesh. He's got millions, and he can have the women he wants. But he'll never have a wife who has been a friend for life, and neither will all these pathetic, porn-addicted men.

I think online role playing games are a kind of porn as well. I used to associate both with boys and adolescence but it appears women are involved, too, and the average gamer is in his thirties. Online games create lives that offer satisfactions that real life can’t offer, very much like porn, and the addiction is similar.

Yeah, right. The divorce must be costing him big $$$$

We'd have to see pictures of his wife to make the final judgement.

Joking aside, this is the best part of the story:

The State of Tennessee said he is too mentally ill to practice law. Ouch!

But unlike porn, they can be played in moderation. I understand your point, though.
