MELBOURNE --
Police have released the 911 call from a distressed homeowner who had just shot one of two suspected intruders inside his Melbourne house.
And we are hearing how many shots he fired at the home invaders.
DISPATCHER: 911, what is the nature of your emergency?
CALLER: Yes, somebody just break into my house.
You can hear him breathing heavily as he calls for help, a man who lives on Pepper Avenue. Just before midnight, his house was being stormed by armed men.
CALLER: They just came in my house and I unloaded my pistol at them.
DISPATCHER: So you fired at the guy breaking into your house?
The caller screams in the distance, screams are heard back.
The dispatcher asks her question again.
DISPATCHER: Did you hit the person with the bullets?
CALLER: I don't know, there were like four of them.
He goes on to provide a description of the suspects.
CALLER: I unloaded like 9 rounds on them.
Underneath the dispatcher's voice the homeowner says "I'm legal."
Meaning, he deemed himself justified in shooting at the men invading his home.
CALLER: The police are here. Melbourne is here. Thank you.
So far, detectives say the homeowner was within his rights to defend his property.
And during the confrontation, he did strike one of the suspects.
Bobby Culler, 25, was hit. Leonard Valentine, 18, were caught taking Culler to the hospital -- Valentine is charged with armed burglary.
Culler likely will be charged upon his release.
Another man with them was let go without any charges -- police aren't sure if there were four men involved in the crime.
Gee... Did the shooter PROFILE the attackers? Is someone dead because they “stood their ground?” How do we know that the shooter wasn’t a RAAAAACIST???!
I’m sorry to hear about the dog. I couldn’t get the video to play, but just watched the one from Galveston. home security cameras are great.
sounds like Homie needs a new business plan, the prey got guns and shoots back...

Thanks.
There is a lot more to this story. This guy was involved in a big police bust in *May*. Are they doing catch and release?
...Culler had been evading arrest by the Melbourne Police Department for several days, and was suspected to have fled from police numerous times over the last week.

Good thing the guy was armed, or he might have been on the receiving end of that shotgun.
Thank God he didn't have a high-capacity magazine or he might have hurt more of the innocent home-invaders.
CALLER: I unloaded like 9 rounds on them.
