AG Abbott formally kicks off gubernatorial bid (TEXAS)
Chron ^ | July 14,2013

Abbott, fresh out of law school, was jogging through Houston's River Oaks neighborhood on July 14, 1984, when a 75-foot oak tree suddenly splintered at its base, striking him in the back and partially paralyzing him. Abbott sued the homeowner and a tree company that had worked in the area and collected millions.

He has since become a proponent of limiting civil litigation in Texas and capping the amount of damages that can be awarded. Opponents have called him a hypocrite, but Abbott has largely shrugged off such criticisms. He rarely speaks about his accident, but chose to Sunday.

"Piecing my life back together began with doctors piecing my vertebrae back together," he said, noting physicians inserted rods in his back. "Too often, you hear politicians talk about having a spine of steel. I actually have one."

Abbott has spent months solidifying his right flank, speaking to grass-roots organizations and tea party groups in hopes of making the governor's race a foregone conclusion. Abbott has also been cheered by many in his party for giving tea party firebrand and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz his start when he appointed him solicitor general in 2003.

Abbott promised Sunday to downsize government, set "real spending limits in Austin" and stroked social conservative fires by saying, "Our priorities are wrong when we live in a state that stops a valedictorian from mentioning God but doesn't stop drug cartels crossing our border."

But he's best known for using his office to sue the federal government 27 times during President Barack Obama's tenure, legal battles that have cost Texas at least $2.58 million. The results are decidedly mixed: Five wins, nine losses, nine pending and four where Texas dropped its complaint because of changing circumstances. His chief target was the Environmental Protection

I’m pretty sure when Abbott contact Obummer to obtain PRISM info. on TexGrill, I anticipate Abbott will say something. But until then I remain a ‘mystery man,” don’t women love a “mystery man” anyways?

Really Abbott’s protecting you from gay marriage? I guess you never visited the Oak Lawn neighborhood in Dallas. And guess what??? Pauken is against gay marriage too. He’s oppossed to ObamaCare too. So, you’re argument is ineffective.

I can’t open the Pauken campaign Website in China. Apparently, the CCP considers him too dangerous for the Chinese. Nonetheless, I suggest you do a Google Search. Open his campaign Website, review, his lifetime achievements, research his political record and background, and contact his campaign staff to ask when Pauken is coning to a Texas town near you, so you can watch his speeches and ask him a few questions. He’s a real man, so he’s not afraid to answer the tough questions from regular Texans.

Yes, sir. Indeed he is.

And don’t forget Obamacare.

Any man who stands up for my rights and my freedoms has earned my vote.

or is he too scared to confront Pauken face-to-face?

Living in Texas, I haven't noticed Abbott being scared of anyone or anything..
To be honest, I have no idea why Pauken is even running..

Thanks for your willingness to learn more about Pauken. Don’t judge him by my words. Go to one of his speeches and judge for yourself.

“...or is he too scared to confront Pauken face-to-face?”

In my opinion, you are redundant here. (definition: superfluous: not or no longer needed or wanted.) And, I would add you are “laughable”. And, you live in China which is not in the same part of the world as Texas.

It is useless to write a comment to me as I won't answer.

Bless Abbott for suing Hussein every time he or Holder tries to step on Texas. We have the money any day to sue Hussein's butt.

It took you less than week to break your promise that you would not post a direct comment to me. You’re doing a “Greg Abbott,” saying one thing and doing the exact opposite. You know, like the time Abbott said he wasn’t going to announce his bid for governor a few weeks later. And then in less than a week, on a Sunday, he announces his bid for the governor’s seat. How do you defeat a Rino, Rove-style, GOP candidate? Very easy, get them off their script. Abbott’s already off-script with his announcement date. Just wait til the Pauken-Abbott Debates, Pauken’s going to pounce on Abbott and it won’t be pretty.

Let’s see...you’ve been registered since May and already nearly got banned for posting Russian photos? I’m sure Mr. Pauken is happy to have you as his representative.

I originally marked this thread so I could see how it turned out, but the more I thought about it...the more amusing it became.

We certainly have some interesting visitors sometimes.:)
