Thanks to the medias habit of showing beatific, outdated photos of Trayvon Martin, many Americans who only casually followed the trial of George Zimmerman incorrectly believed him to have been younger than he actually was at the time of his death. In a Friday interview, Zimmermans lead defense attorney, Mark OMara admitted that he was one of them.
Speaking with CNN correspondent Martin Savidge, OMara denounced what he called a wonderfully created and crafted public relations campaign by the attorney for Martins family, Benjamin Crump and his allies. According to OMara, had they not injected a racial element into the story, Zimmerman would never have been tried.
Such was the power of the narrative of a bruising white man deliberately gunning down a small boy out of racial malice that even OMara, a seasoned defense attorney very familiar with media sensationalism, bought into it.

They should do a survey having the 12 year old pict and the 17 year old picts and a few of non trayvon people. Ask people to point out the correct pict of Trayvon that is closest to his death. Bracket it with questions on how closely they followed the trial. If they think zimmerman was guilty etc. Then publish those results. That will neutralize the propaganda.
goes to show the media isn’t biased anymore
biased is far to weak a word to describe a bunch of foaming mouthed liberal zealots doing everything they can to push an agenda.
It happens to the best of us.
For myself the ‘facts’ being presented didn’t make sense from the very beginning. On the other hand I did know what Sanford is like. In the ‘hood’ in broad daylight the Blacks would run out and stop cars driving through to offer their ‘goods’.
On the other hand I am very pleased that he realized that he had been manipulated by a very clever ‘campaign’ to discredit GZ and earn a handsome payday for the Parents and Attorneys representing them from Insurance payouts, endorsements, Products, etc.
As we now know, it’s quite an industry, the ‘Race Baiting” Industry that is.
The media is the PR firm for Satan.
Can’t wait for Mark’s book to come out. Just watching him in court tells me his book will be a major hit.
I have never seen a picture of Trayvon at his real age next to a picture of a younger him. Wonder why that is?
I’ve heard the pundits say it was right to run this through the system (even though it was initially found to not be criminal) - but how does George Zimmerman get his life back? What does the state owe him for this?
And here is what is sad about that. We have had a full year of dispelling the myths of the scheme team narrative. A year ago many still did not know that they were myths — but now they do and yet they still hang onto the myths as their hatred grows.
This is a ‘must watch’
I’m surprised OMara was fooled by the media. Perhaps he’s being generous.
I have a simple rule with the MSM that never lets me down; everything they say is a lie. Everything. Always.
Are there any polls out that shows what percentage of Americans support the verdict? If it’s more than 50% I doubt they’ll ever show it unless they can spin it.
O’Mara is a liberal Democrat. He’s anti-gun and anti-self defense in general and anti-stand your ground in particular. He also pulled some very shady stuff with this case. Sherrie Zimmerman is facing perjury charges because O’Mara TOLD her and George not to include the defense fund in their asset statement. He has never done the honorable thing and claimed credit for that mistake. He also handled the $200,000.00 dollars from the Zimmerman defense fund in a highly unusual, perhaps unethical, manner. More is at this website which hopefully doesn’t violate FR TOS:
Somebody made a good point by noting that no one was worried that whites or Hispanics would riot if Zimmerman was acquitted.
He shot him in self defense. If that punk would not have attacked him George Zimmerman wouldn’t have shot him. It’s as simple as that

Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton wanted George Zimmerman arrested. They believe he stalked their son because he was black, and they were outraged that Sanford police had accepted Zimmerman’s claim of self-defense.
Lee, the police chief, would contend under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law that police could not arrest Zimmerman without evidence to contradict his story. Martin turned to Patricia Jones, his sister-in-law.
An attorney herself, she knew whom to call: Benjamin Crump, the state’s best-known civil rights attorney, based in Tallahassee. Crump and law partner Daryl Parks had previously gained renown representing the family of a black teenager who died in a boot-camp-style youth detention center in 2006, winning the boy’s family $7.2 million in damages from the state of Florida and Bay County.

During a break in the hearing, Crump noticed messages from Tyrone Williams, another attorney he knows, and Jones. They urgently asked for his help. Soon Jones put him in touch with Tracy Martin.
“I told him to believe in the system,” Crump said of that first call. “I really believed they were going to arrest Zimmerman. I said, ‘He’s a neighborhood watch person with a gun. Of course they are going to arrest him just for that.’” “Then 48 hours passed and they still hadn’t arrested him,” Crump said. “After that we just had to do what we had to do.”
He took the case pro bono. Realizing he needed a lawyer who knew Sanford and Seminole County, Crump turned to Natalie Jackson, a former Navy intelligence officer who founded the Women’s Trial Group, which specializes in cases for women and children. Her mother lives in Sanford.
Now Crump and Jackson needed a media strategy. On March 5, Jackson brought in Ryan Julison, a publicist who had worked with her on a number of high-profile cases. After speaking with Tracy Martin, Julison said he also took the job for free and went to work pitching the story to national media.
Crump knew from his experience on the boot-camp case that publicity could force officials to act, but it would require persuading two people who had never stood before a television camera to withstand the spotlight.
“I got on the phone with Tracy Martin and I told him, It’s not going to be any fun, but this is the only way to find justice,’” Julison said. “You are going to have to bare your soul and express your emotions and your inner grief.” Martin and Fulton agreed. There was only one problem. At first, the media weren’t interested. Julison pitched the story to a long list of media contacts.
Eventually, on March 7, Reuters published a story titled “Family of Florida Boy Killed by Neighborhood Watch Seeks Arrest.” The next day, CBS News aired a segment on “This Morning,” and by 10 a.m. a crowd of reporters gathered at Natalie Jackson’s law office for a news conference with Ben Crump and Tracy Martin. A media firestorm had begun.
One of the most powerful bits of evidence of GZs probable innocence was, when told by a cop very shortly after the event that he thought the incident had been filmed, his immediate response was thank God.That’s the response of a guy who clearly...instinctively...knows that he did nothing wrong.
Wow, I never heard that until now! That is what I would say if I had just been forced to shoot some one.
Crump mis-pronounced “annals of history” as “anals of history” last night. A Freudian slip or just ignorance from the purported best civil rights lawyer in Florida? Go, Florida!
