My thoughts exactly.
In the first place, if I had to kill somebody in self defense, I would not want to keep the firearm (but that's me).
In the second place, that gun is a piece of history. If he were to auction it off, the Justice for Trayvon crowd would freak out and pool their money together to get it. He could squeeze them for plenty.
