George Zimmerman is not guilty of the murder of Trayvon Martin, a Florida jury decided late Saturday.
The fact that Zimmerman fired the bullet that killed Martin was never in question, but the verdict means the six-person jury had reasonable doubt that the shooting amounted to a criminal act.
The verdict caps a case that has inflamed passions for well over a year, much of it focused on race and gun rights.
The six-person jury -- all women -- basically had three choices: to find Zimmerman guilty of second-degree murder; to find him guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter; or to find him not guilty.
The jurors deliberated for 16½ hours total, including 13 on Saturday alone, before delivering its verdict.

As a Floridian I have plenty to say and do to see that further justice is done! The fact that Angela Cory and Pam Bondi were responsible for not allowing facts to be brought before a Grand Jury needs to be addressed.
I hope thousands of Floridians will join me in seeing that support is given to the Seminole County Sheriff and Sanford Police Chief who were fired because they would not file charges against George Zimmerman. Why wouldn't they file charges? Because their full investigations showed that George Zimmerman acted in self defense.
I also hope that the citizens of Sanford will take a very close look at the actions of their Mayor and other city officials!!!
I’m glad to see justice despite the state trying to railroad this man.
I hope that they don’t all get audited by the IRS or harassed by the feds.
In her statements to the press afterwards Corey REPEATEDLY said how important it had been to get “all the facts out” — in fact, supreme irony, that was her answer when she was asked about the firing of her whistle-blowing staff member.
Justice has prevailed. If I was George Zimmerman right now, I would find a safe area of the US or leave the country entirely to find safety if need be, and begin to sue NBC, CNN, etc. immediately.
I never posted anything like that - in fact I posted nothing at all about the sex of the jurors.
Thanks. What about a lawsuit for damages?
New York Daily News still posting the disgusting pictures of Traythug when he was 12 years old.
Breaking News: Nancy Grace on suicide watch!
This is how the MSM fact-check. Journalistic standards have never been this bad, and getting badder.

No lawsuit,Florida law prevents it.
Their weekend was screwed up anyway. (I don't know when they decided on this strategy). 16-1/2 hours should get them three days jury duty pay.
18 U.S.C. Section 249 holds open the possibility that a private person can be prosecuted for violating the rights of another.
There is hope, when there was none before
And it's been responded 1001 times Obastard and Holdem' are an outlaw regime.
Glad you answered it for the 1,001st time. I appreciate the information. I hope it is correct. This case shows the importance of having competent defense counsel. Now GZ can focus on numerous lawsuits against media organizations that slandered him. Perhaps collect a few dollars... that can go to pay his criminal attorneys, and finance a move far, far away from his former neighborhood...
I hope God helps Travon Martins parents to find peace.

As I’ve understood all of this, Trayvon hasn’t lived with his parents since he was about 3 y/o. Another woman (his step-mom?) raised him, but was not highlighted during the trial other than giving an interview on some TV channel.
He was a druggie, burgler, thief who was expelled from school and kicked out of the house by the woman who actually raised him. That’s when he went to Sanford FL to live temporarily at his dad’s girlfriend’s apartment.
I think it’s dispicable that the media played up the bio parents so much, when they had very little to do with raising him. It’s ridiculous that the ambulance-chasing lawyers representing the “family” were able to get a monetary settlement from the gated complex where the thug died!
So happy. Finally, the system worked and jurors made the right decision.
