The Zimmerman Verdict is to be announced shortly --
Thanks for that link
I am, frankly, shocked that HLN equipment did not melt at the mention of our Lord's name.
Some complain of the verdict in the Zimmerman trial, demand that Zimmerman be punished, and chant “NO Justus - No Peace”
Justice has been done, but more justice is needed.
In this county and culture, Criminal Justice requires due process, not a lynching.
Due Process is “that process that is due”
In most states, the evidence of major crimes, such as murder/manslaughter are presented to a grand jury.
The citizen grand jury, guided by the prosecutor, decides whether or not to charge (indict) the defendant and the appropriate charges. The grand jury can also decide that a crime was not committed or that this defendant did not commit the crime under investigation and issue a “no bill”
The case against Zimmerman was never presented to a grand jury. The local prosecutor was satisfied that Zimmerman did not commit a crime. That is part of what led to the initial public dissatisfaction with the handling of the case.
Once the family and their advisors mounted a successful public relations campaign, the Florida Governor yielded to public pressure, and appointed a special prosecutor. A special prosecutor should examine the evidence and how the investigation was handled and determine if the local police and prosecutor handled the case correctly (i.e., make sure the locals were not just taking care of one of their friends). If warranted, in most states, the special prosecutor would present the facts to a grand jury.
The special prosecutor in this matter did not present the case to grand jury but, as allowed by Florida law, issued an “information” which commenced the criminal case against Zimmerman.
That failure to present the case to a grand jury led to the deprivation of civil rights of George Zimmerman, and this travesty that we witnessed.
If the matter had been presented to a grand jury, and the grand jury issued a no bill, the BGI would have demonstrated for a review of the matter by the US Department of Justice, claiming that Martin's civil rights (to live) had been violated. Unless the system has been totally corrupted, that investigation would disclose the evidence that was not presented in this trial and Zimmerman should have been exonerated. Zimmerman's civil rights have been violated.
If we still have a justice system, Zimmerman should commence suits for the violations of his civil rights against the special prosecutor and the prosecutors; against the “scheme team” (the parents, their attorneys and advisors - including the BGI - Sheraton, Jackson et al.) and agains the media that knowingly and maliciously misrepresented facts and defamed Zimmerman in their reports.
Thanks cousins!
It’s good. If I were specifically addressing black folks, I would expand a bit on the lynching angle. The same mindset that motivated white lynchers is alive, well and dominant in today’s media culture.
As it turns out, I have to repost without the USA Today excerpt. No USA Today excerpts allowed on FR.
My own feeling is this. I have followed the trial closely...each day. The Jury clearly looked at the evidence, which was overwhelming for the defense and Zimmerman.
Zimmerman's nose was broken and his face was bruised and bloodied after the confrontation. He had cuts and bruises on the back of his head. He had grass stains on the back of his shirt and pants. Treyvon had no injuries from the fight, except the gunshot wound. There were scrapes on his knuckles. And he had grass stains on his knees. All of this was supported by the forensic evidence and was not challenged.
It is clear who was delivering a beating, and who was receiving it. An eye witness indicated Treyvon was on top of Zimmerman and hitting him. Clearly, the one who was screaming histerically, and terrified for help, was the one being beaten, not the one on top doing the beating.
In almost all cases, the prosecution witnesses, under cross examination, gave testimony that ended up supporting Zimmerman's story.
It is tragic that things happened like they did. But neither person had broken any laws, or committed any crime, and could have walked away from this up until the time one of them decided to sucker punch the other in the face, break his nose and knock him down. Even then Treyvon could have walked away and had very little long term personal consequence. But when he began beating Zimmerman on the ground as he did, he took a path that led to his death. Zimmerman finally shot, and the forensic evidence showed that Treyvon was shot at close range, with the bullet traveling upward through his body (and his heart) while Zimmerman was on the ground.
There simply was not evidence of any hate crimes. There was simply no evidence of murder or negligence. The jury decided that Zimmerman was defending himself.
We know now that Zimmerman, an Hispanic male, mentored young black kids in his spare time. No racist there at all.
No, it is tragic that a 17 year old young man was killed. He was not a "little" kid. He was 6' 2" tall, 170 lbs, and was quite muscular and fit as a high school football player. Zimmerman was 5'9", also weighed around 170 lbs, but was not in good shape and over weight. And Treyvon was not angelic...far from it. His facebook page and tweets make that clear enough, as does his own record...all of which the jury could not hear...and in the end, did not need to.
Would Zimmerman have died that night? We will never know. But he clearly thought he was in great danger, and he was definitely being beat up. So he finally pulled his gun and shot in self defense.
I pray the country can move on from this. This case was trumped up by politicians, the Media, and those seeking a racial cause. The local police had already pretty much determined what this jury found and that is why Zimmerman was released after being taken to the police station that night. These types of things happen fairly often in this nation of 350 million.
For example, shortly before this event, a black man, who was being stalked by 4-5 white thugs, was at home one night when these thugs came to his house and began calling him names, and throwing rocks at his home from his drive way. He was safe in his home. It was secure and he was armed. He did not have to go out. But they were on his property and he decided to go out and confront them. There was an argument. One of the young men, about 19 years old, charged the man yelling that he was going to hurt him. The man shot...and the 19 year old died.
That man was not tried. He was not arrested for murder or manslaughter. Everyone knew these kids were on his property and up to no good. He could have stayed inside, but he decided to confront the evil on his property and when attacked, he defended himself. I have no problem with it...and believe more Americans should send such messages to criminals when they are threatened. 911 takes on average 9 minutes for anyone to get there. Usually by that time, it is over.
That above case happened in Florida by the way...and there was no outcry, no demands to punish that man for killing the much younger man. It was clearly self defense...as was this case with Zimmerman.
They got everything they asked for — an arrest, an indictment, an investigation [which should have been first], a trial in a kangaroo court with trumped up evidence, where the defendant was denied the evidence to prove his innocence, where his underfunded legal team had to defend him with one hand tied behind their backs — and they still didn’t get the verdict.
That’s what they are mad at. They cheated and still lost.
It’s time for political correctness in this matter to end.
Thanks for the social media postings — those are horrific. Yes, we’ve gone soooo far in race relations.
He sure did wipe the floor (brother with Piers Morgan).
Now it looks like Zimmerman will have to seek asylum along with Snowden, since the Communists and race-baiters are out for his blood.
Thanks. That is an excellent suggestion. I started out with simple bullet points on due process. It is difficult to be succinct if you have been following the trial and reading FR, the conservative tree house and legal insurrection (KUDOS to all). I’ll edit and finalize later after I’ve had the benefits of comments from FReepers and allowed my subconscious to work on it
Precisely!
I will incorporate that into the last paragraph, except I will have to soften the PC part. Many do not realize that they have been so thoroughly indoctrinated.
Thanks again for starting the daily threads.
Will you be reposting the anticipated Sundance reports of the BGI and Scheme Team conspiracies?
Maybe some of it —
It would be nice to get the lowdown on the double DeeDees — though it is not as necessary now.
The amazing thing is the verdict came in without the jury even knowing all the other stuff about Martin — his fighting prowess, marijuana use, lean use, school suspensions, jewel thefts.
The jurors are probably now at home learning about those things for the first time and saying “phewwww — thankfully we made the right decision”.
HLN is like a gruesome auto accident - I can’t stop listening; but feel, I dunno, ashamed.
They keep talking about the “conversation” that needs to be had. That conversation seems to not include the idea of living without a gangster attitude.
Dumasses on HLN dising GZ brother now.
And just mind numbing blather about “change.”
Look at the NBP twitter feed, then ask yourself who are the racists. Hint, it’s not the whites, Hispanics, etc.
<>Dumasses on HLN dising GZ brother now.<>
It’s probably because of what he said at the 15:30 mark here
on the Piers Morgan show after the verdict:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=PIdwu3gHXy4
and the price that the Zimmerman’s and their friends and their attorneys can now charge the networks for an appearance has now skyrocketed.
Any verdict other than not guilty would have been insanity! Politics have no business in the courtroom and this was political from day one. Zimmerman should never have been charged. The idiot closet Muslin, closet homo, closet Marxist, illegitimate, trashy usurper currently in the WH played a big part in this fiasco when he said this gansta wannabe looked like the son he never had.
It’s over, now the msms and that includes Fox needs to STFU about it. Drop it. It was no different than hundreds of other cases that go on every single day in courthouses around the country. Of course the libs want to keep it going. Method of mass distraction. Holder isn’t going to file any charges against Zimmerman, they just want to talk about it, hint about to keep it in the news and avert discussion of the scandals. I wonder if Holder is contemplating charging Major Nidal Hasan for the mass murder at Fort Hood since that was beyond a shadow of a doubt a hate crime. Nah, didn’t think so.
It’s way past time to get back to things like Benghazi, NSA, IRS scandals, Fast and Furious, things that matter. If Fox continues to harp on this my tv will not be tuned in.
The fat lady has sung, time to move on.
I’m looking forward to Jack Cashill’s book. He’s such a
throwback to what investigative journalism USED to be. Just
digging up facts and laying them out, come what may.
I’ll bet there’s all kinds of surprises regarding the
Martin ‘family’. His book Deconstructing obammy was very
informative.
One factor in GZ’s favor was having a sequestored jury. The jury could not see or hear the media “opinion makers”. They had to use their own common sense after hearing the evidence.
