Is it a proven fact that GZ was the one yelling for help????
I do not believe that was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.
I am not in favor of persecution GZ I’m just asking questions!
No one said that was GZ and proven on the tape.
The other question I have is this GZ should have been able to diffuse this situation with out violence if he had confronted TM. If he had training he would have never approached TM within the space to be hit as the animation shows that was made for the case. Evidence shows there was some conversation element. IT is unfortunate for the loss of life of TM and a terrible fate for GZ to serve prison time. However I feel GZ did have the option available to avoid the death of TM. OF course I am not a Judge or a Jury! But I do feel GZ does have some guilt in this unfortunate incident. All I can hope for is an appeal that will prove the total claim of self defense and GZ will be exonerated.
Backwards, dear FReeper. The state of FL has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Z is guilty. They have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that it was NOT self defense.
Z doesn’t have to prove anything. And most especially he doesn’t have to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt as you put it, that he was yelling.
That type of defense proof doesn’t come into play at all.
Even the state must only prove beyond reasonable doubt, not a beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Shadow of a doubt is the wrong standard.
It doesn’t really matter who was yelling for help. If GZ feared great bodily harm or for his life he was justified in shooting. There is no requirement of calling for help before exercising his right to self defense.
According to Jeantel TM had made it to his apartment and then went back to confront GZ.
I agree it was unfortunate for both of them. Obviously TM because he’s dead and GZ because his life is utterly ruined no matter the verdict.
GZ is innocent, until proven guilty. Therefore it doesn’t have to be proven that he was the one yelling. The prosecution would have to prove that it was TM yelling.
If someone jumps out of the bushes and starts beating you, I guess you are partly to blame?

No, nor is it a proven fact that the voice belonged to Martin. So all that can be ascertained from the voice is that one of the two was in hysterical distress.
So what other evidence is there? Well, we know that eyewitness accounts show that Martin was on top of Zimmerman beating him. We also have forensic evidence showing that Zimmerman was beaten. So from this evidence, it is reasonable to ascertain that the voice of distress belonged to Zimmerman. Capisce?
