Boeing has the best planes on Earth.
Bar none.
I used to think so too.
The A380...claimed by some to be the greatest invention since the printing press...has been in service for a couple of years.Already there have been reports of cracks in the wings. And that's apart from the near catastrophic accident in which one of its Rolls Royce engines exploded, almost causing a crash.
Green aircraft burn nicely.
Wasn’t that an A380 that went down in a storm leaving Brazil a few years back?
Nope.
did they actually do the modifications on their planes?
Were coach passengers roasting a goat?
A340...I believe.
No,I think that was a 330 and that it's believed that the cause was bad weather...major thunderstorms. The A380 incident occurred on a flight between London and Australia and some parts of the exploded engine landed on a small Indonesian island that I've been to (that's one of the reasons the incident sticks in my mind). Also,it happened just before *I* was scheduled to fly an A380 so I feared that my flight would be affected but it wasn't (my plane had GE engines).
Wait...so a an airplane has trouble on a remote parking stand, and Heathrow, one of the busiest airports in the world, closes 2 runways?!
Paging Burt Lancaster.....the Brits need a lesson on how to run an airport.
Oh yeah, right. Twice the engines blew on that model.
The A380 has strange noises on take-off. Very noisy landing gear...etc. Just an observation.
A 330 someone said - blew an engine. on two different planes.
Right - a 330 - then too, a 330 blew an engine on two different 330’s ....
I've only flown the A380 once (14 hours..daylight flight) and didn't notice anything unusual.But then,I wasn't listening for anything.
The reason I changed my mind about the relative merits of the two companies was the many flights I made between Jakarta and a UK destination via Dubai or Abu Dhabi, flying Emirates or Etihad.
Invariably, without fail the Jakarta leg uses B 737’s and then the UAE-UK leg uses more modern Airbuses. This is obviously because the airlines feel Indonesians don’t need the same standard of comfort that Europeans require. It is however quite an eye-opener, the Boeings seem very basic, and frankly a bit shabby by comparison with the Airbuses. The seats are cramped and old-fashioned on the Boeings, even in Business Class.
Now admittedly I might not be comparing like with like, the Boeing is a much older design but still it has been quite an eye-opener for someone who always assumed the inherent supremacy of Boeings.
I also fly a lot due to the nature of my work, and totally agree with your post. There seems to be some sort of ‘hierarchy.’
