Snowden says he will seek asylum in Russia

Fugitive document-leaker Edward Snowden announced Friday that he is submitting a request for political asylum in Russia, where he has been stranded at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport since June 23.

Eventually, the 30-year-old former contractor for the National Security Agency said in a meeting with human rights activists and lawyers, he still hopes to be granted asylum in Latin America.

“I announce today my formal acceptance of all offers of support or asylum I have been extended and all others that may be offered in the future,” Snowden said, reading from a written statement. He cited, for example, Venezuela’s grant of asylum, but he said that “some governments” in Western Europe and North America were illegally interfering “with my right to enjoy that asylum,” making it impossible for him to travel to Latin America.

“Accordingly, I ask for your assistance in requesting guarantees of safe passage from the relevant nations in securing my travel to Latin America, as well as requesting asylum in Russia until such time as these states accede to law and my legal travel is permitted,” Snowden said. “I will be submitting my request to Russia today, and hope it will be accepted favorably.”

This sounds more like ‘proof of life’ than anything I’ve read so far.

“Flexibility”.. Nice trick, 0bama. You’ve transferred a ton of our national security secrets to Russia, and you did it under the guise of a disgruntled employee. I wonder if our missile defense shield data is in that treasure trove?

Only against open action from a government(as opposed as an independently acting private citizen), and that’s only as long as the US isn’t willing to cause an accident.

That, and I’m not terribly trusting of RT/HRW when they’re the only ones allowed to record the thing.

It was clear from the very beginning. Neither Venezuela has toilet paper and cold beer nor able to provide any security.

Don't be fooled. Look what happened here. The FIRST breach involved getting Americans on HIS side. Evoking anger of Americans against their government.. What happened next? Next came the good stuff. The stuff FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS WANT TO KNOW. That is what this was all about. Don't be fooled. This was an intelligence transfer 'false flag' op that began with enlisting the support of Americans, then DAMAGEVILLE to our national security.. A huge GAIN for hostile nations while at the same time fomenting sympathy by Americans for Snowden. You can't square those two factors, can you?

Putin got what he wanted...

Putin gets to poke Obama in the eye repeatedly for the next three years or longer....

He can say “snowden says this” or “snowden says that”, even if it isn’t true it will have glorious propaganda value.

I hate all of this. Home of the free.... yet we tear up our own Constitution. We appear to be hypocrites when we speak out on human rights issues.

It will also affect our business interests. Tech companies will pay a price for their collusion in the world marketplace.

Yep. In Venezuela he’s a sitting duck for a drone strike or a covert op hit or kidnapping.

Snowden says he will seek asylum in Russia

And Putin now has the goods on everybody that Obama and the Rats have the goods on, plus he has the goods on Obama and the Rats.

This isn't working out the way Obama and his Rats planned.

So sad.

During Snowden's first Hong Kong video interview he acted confident, was verbose, and had a post nasal drip going on, consistent with a cocaine buzz. He lived with a pole dancer, probably making more than he did giving lap dances. Drug use is common among club dancers. Someone willing to throw their citizenship away forever for 15 minutes of fame is probably not thinking straight. Snowden may favor drug producing countries because of the low cost of drugs there.

Russia has a booming economy, 13% flat tax, no capital gains tax, and most people are not even required to file tax forms. They have an oversupply of beautiful unmarried Caucasian women and few minorities. Their population density has fallen to the point they favor freedom and traditional values and reject communism. The language is hard to learn but Russia has far more going for it than a third world banana republic.

You really didn’t already know about the patriot act?

Has your neighbor, you or anyone you know been harassed by snooping?

This OWS far left punk has made it OK now in American’s minds to pass classified secrets to foreign govts...that is not ok and he should be prosecuted.
