Fugitive document-leaker Edward Snowden announced Friday that he is submitting a request for political asylum in Russia, where he has been stranded at Moscows Sheremetyevo Airport since June 23.
Eventually, the 30-year-old former contractor for the National Security Agency said in a meeting with human rights activists and lawyers, he still hopes to be granted asylum in Latin America.

Accordingly, I ask for your assistance in requesting guarantees of safe passage from the relevant nations in securing my travel to Latin America, as well as requesting asylum in Russia until such time as these states accede to law and my legal travel is permitted, Snowden said. I will be submitting my request to Russia today, and hope it will be accepted favorably.
Putin got what he wanted...
Russia = Safe
Venezuela = Dog meat
Greatest whistle blower, EVER.
YOU are being watched whether you send an email, make a phone call, or sue your pc chip in your debit card.
PRISM = Beast System
This sounds more like ‘proof of life’ than anything I’ve read so far.
“Flexibility”.. Nice trick, 0bama. You’ve transferred a ton of our national security secrets to Russia, and you did it under the guise of a disgruntled employee. I wonder if our missile defense shield data is in that treasure trove?
Only against open action from a government(as opposed as an independently acting private citizen), and that’s only as long as the US isn’t willing to cause an accident.
That, and I’m not terribly trusting of RT/HRW when they’re the only ones allowed to record the thing.
It was clear from the very beginning. Neither Venezuela has toilet paper and cold beer nor able to provide any security.

Putin gets to poke Obama in the eye repeatedly for the next three years or longer....
He can say “snowden says this” or “snowden says that”, even if it isn’t true it will have glorious propaganda value.
AMENDMENT IV

Yep. In Venezuela he’s a sitting duck for a drone strike or a covert op hit or kidnapping.
And Putin now has the goods on everybody that Obama and the Rats have the goods on, plus he has the goods on Obama and the Rats.
This isn't working out the way Obama and his Rats planned.
So sad.
Russia has a booming economy, 13% flat tax, no capital gains tax, and most people are not even required to file tax forms. They have an oversupply of beautiful unmarried Caucasian women and few minorities. Their population density has fallen to the point they favor freedom and traditional values and reject communism. The language is hard to learn but Russia has far more going for it than a third world banana republic.

And Anna Chapman?

If I were him, Russia would be my new home.
This isn’t working out the way Obama and his Rats planned.
Me too. Why would anyone want to live in Venezuela?
You really didn’t already know about the patriot act?
Has your neighbor, you or anyone you know been harassed by snooping?
This OWS far left punk has made it OK now in American’s minds to pass classified secrets to foreign govts...that is not ok and he should be prosecuted.
