I may be the only decenter here, but it’s my take that you don’t shoot at folks just because they are running from the police. You do shoot if they run up to you or your property in a threatening manner.
In most places, you have to be in clear fear of your life, to use deadly force.
I think it’s best to allow the police to use deadly force if in fact it needs to used.
People bolt from the police for minor offenses at times. I’d sure hate to have shot a guy dead because he freaked out about being caught for some petty crime.
You’re exactly right...imagine driving up to a convenience store, hearing what sounds like gunshots and seeing two guys running out the store...
do you open up on them?
do you try to detain them?
do you unholster your weapon and sit in your car after memorizing a description of the two guys?
