Bush’s call for GOP to embrace immigration reform seems to have little effect
Washington Post ^ | 7/10/13 | David Nakamura and Ed O’Keefe,

Former president George W. Bush, who enjoyed healthy support among Latinos during his time in office, has broken a virtual five-year silence in national politics by calling on fellow Republicans to embrace immigration reform at a time when conservatives are rebelling against the idea.

The question is: Is anyone listening?

-snip-

Rep. Raúl R. Labrador (R-Idaho), who last month dropped out of bipartisan talks to develop a comprehensive House immigration bill, said Bush’s views would have little impact.

“Anybody has to take an ex-president’s word seriously, but he’s just another voice on this issue. He’s not going to be the definitive voice,” Labrador said in an interview.

He added that House lawmakers “are all independent actors here. We’re not little kids waiting for someone to tell us how to vote and act.”

Karl Rove crapped the nest yet again with the bad advice he's been giving the Bush Brothers on pimping Amnesty to a GOP base that doesn't want it.

With crap like this, GWB reminds me why I don’t quite “miss him yet.”

Very difficult to disguise crap. It is what it is and no amount of camouflage will change that.

Bush after you have remained on the sidelines for so many years, why in the world would you pick immigration, on which to speak?

We have so many serious challenges.

Why even worry about immigration now?

I never missed Bush...missed Reagan....it was Bush and Rove who gave us a generation of lo fo voters by never ever making an articulate argument from the bully pulpit during his entire two terms.

Bush is wrong. We need only one bill right now and that is to complete the fence and increase capture of those that cross. Then, and only then, should we consider anything else.

This immigration bill is another hyperloaded mountain of paper doing everything but what the title of the bill promises, just like the Affordable Care Act of 2010.

First, build a formidable, real border barrier and enforce existing immigration law. Not even a conversation until that is in place.

Somene remind me again exactly what that Simple Minded RINO did to stop the invasion of Illegals during his 8 years as President?

Was he not OBLIGATED to enforce the Laws on the books INCLUDING the Law that mandated a FENCE BE BUILT?

Dear JORGE DELANO ARBUSTO: STFU you had your chance to fix the problem you FAILED.

Well golly gee, that’s because it had little effect in 2005, 2006 or 2007.

Ted Kennedy is dead. Arlen Specter is dead. Unfortuantely John McCain is still alive to carry the torch but hopefully he will have one more failure on his belt.

Take a look at the blue colored counties along the southern Texas border in the 2000 and 2004 elections. So much for GWB having sway with the latino vote. Now these current GOP amnesty panderers expect different results? Fagetaboudit... More 3rd world dreck imports mean more DemRat votes. Schmuckie Chuckie and Tran Pealousy can say otherwise and Ricky Marco Ricardo won’t be hailed as a political hero by latinos.

Bush continues to throw with the same GOP “leaders” who wouldn't even invite him to the conventions

Dear George II,

If “they” were too ashamed by democrat attacks of associating with you and citing your record of accomplishments (compared to the pos potus who ran and won), why do you think you are “helping” them now their cause? Or are you “helping” the Nancy Pelosi democrats who always got the gracious gentleman treatment from you?

Who ya preaching to, George?

Just go back to painting dog pictures please

Yes a crock of human raw sewage. Immigration reform? Like we don’t have enough already. Right there in Wash, DC and immediate surrounding area has no shortage of them esp from the ME. Even burqua clad women can be seen. Enough already their ruining the culture by not assimilating plus many go on welfare. Look at the Tsarnaev cretins for an example. Like Levin said they have crapped all over the American citizens with this nonsense ‘immigration reform’.
They ignore the laws already in place. Flux em all.

While he may be correct regarding George W. Bush I don't trust Labrador.

Labrador was an original member of the House Gang of Eight. He is a member of the Hispanic Leadership Network, a group created by American Action Network. American Action Network was founded by Fred Malek, National Finance Committee co-chair of John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign. Malek is also Chairman of American Action Forum, of which Jeb Bush is a key member. Jeb Bush is also a member of the Hispanic Leadership Network. These groups share office space with Crossroads GPS/American Crossroads, groups affiliated with Karl Rove. Labrador is in this den of RINOs.

House Gang of Eight members Mario Diaz-Balart and Francisco Canseco are also members of the Hispanic Leadership Network.

"Earned legal status", "undocumented immigrant" are talking points developed by the Hispanic Leadership Network.

The Washington Past attempts to launder Labrador, "who last month dropped out of bipartisan talks to develop a comprehensive House immigration bill the Gang of Eight", the truth is Labrador is another despicable RINO traitor.
