I never thought Id see the day when the White House, the president came down on the side of big business but left the American people out in the cold as far as his health care mandate is concerned, Cantor told reporters after House Republicans met for their weekly closed-door meeting. And we, as House Republicans, are not going to sit still for that.…
What the president did is outrageous, Boehner said. The idea that were going to give big businesses a break on Obamacare but were going to punish small businesses and families? Its wrong. And well have another vote. Count on it.
Here’s the letter Boehner sent to O inquiring about whether there are any more “glitches” and surprises in O-Care’s implementation that the White House knows about but is keeping quiet for now. ObamaCare repeal votes are usually party-line (or almost party-line) but I’m intrigued by this one. With the midterms getting closer and Democrats getting nervous about their party’s signature boondoggle, maybe a vote demanding a modest one-year delay in the individual mandate will draw more than token support from them. That means nothing legislatively since Reid will certainly block the House bill in the Senate, but it’ll be spun by the GOP as a bipartisan vote of no confidence in ObamaCare generally. What’s a panicky Democrat who’s reluctant to humiliate Obama to do?
While they’re busy taking votes, here’s one more for them to take:
If Republicans were smart, theyd draft a bill based on the following mantra: No Subsidization Without Verification. That is, they should take a stand that nobody can receive subsidies through Obamacare before the government has a system in place that can independently verify the information as accurate.
If such a piece of legislation becomes law, it would effectively delay one of the central provisions of Obamacare indefinitely, because after more than three years, the government has not been able to figure out a way to meet the technological challenge of verification. As stated in the HHS rule published Friday: After reviewing and considering the appropriate public comments and completing a technical analysis, we have concluded that the service described in the proposed rule is not feasible for implementation for the first year of operations. This service would involve a large amount of systems development on both the state and federal side, which cannot occur in time for October 1, 2013.
Of course, Obama and his fellow Democrats would likely block such an attempt by Republicans. If they do so, they will be put into the position of explaining to the American people why they are willing to hand out a over a trillion dollars of taxpayer subsidies without proper procedures in place to prevent fraud.
Boehner mentions O waving bye-bye to ObamaCare’s anti-fraud provisions in the clip, but it seems to be a secondary line of attack after the populist individual/employer mandate talking point. It shouldn’t be. The average low-information voter might not be paying close enough attention to understand the distinctions between the two mandates. Everyone understands the point about verification, though. If we don’t leave people to the honor system in reporting their taxes, why should we leave them to it in demanding welfare for health insurance? That hits taxpayers in the gut. Not sure the mandate point does.
I DON’T WANT ANY OF IT EVER, BONER, YOU STUPID, LITTLE JERK!
Another stupid move by Bonehead and the Stupid Party.
He should make certain that BOTH the individual and employer mandates kick in BEFORE the 2014 election.
With a little luck and a bit of competence (maybe too much to hope for?) the Democrats would be massacred in 2014.
No, delay the entire law.........forever.
I’m sure being Speaker is not the easiest job in the world.
But right now there should be just two items on Boehner’s to do list:
1. Kill the damned amnesty bill.
2. Defund nobama care.
Even a RINO, GOPer like him could do this with his eyes closed.
The article kept leading up to what the House Republicans could do, then on the rest of the story, which in each case was that it doesn’t matter anyway, the Senate and Obozo will put the kibbosh on whatever measure the House takes anyway.
In light of the amnesty bill being weaseled, and the fact that apparently even if the House does take a stand on Obozocare, it will be a futile gesture, I’m wondering, what is the point? To try to mitigate conservative anger when the amnesty bill leaves the House, is “reconciled” with the Senate bill, and passed? By saying, “well, at least we tried to stand up for you re Obozocare and the individual mandate”? When not Congress nor the Supreme Court has been able to stop this juggernaut to date?
Exactly. Defund it Bonehead!
Boner and other Republicans should be explaining how Obama postponed the employer mandate to avoid an 2014 election disaster for Dims. This is a golden opportunity to again point out the harm Obamacare will cause, but all he can come up with is to ask that the individual mandate also be postponed?
Either kill the whole thing or let it go as scheduled while chaos results.
It will be Obama's and Pelosi's and Reid's chaos.
Let it be!
Boehner is the Elmer Fudd of the House.
Defund this Marxist monstrosity and shut down the government if needed to force a vote in the Senate.
What the president did is outrageous, Boehner said. The idea that were going to give big businesses a break on Obamacare but were going to punish small businesses and families? Its wrong. And well have another vote. Count on it.
Another vote on what? The damned thing was passed already.
Why don’t you put Barrack on notice and inform him that the law stands as is....
Or is this a living document, still going through embryo and evolution???
Get Effing real. You ain’t got nothing to vote on.
What you do got is the power to force this joker to follow the law. The same law he was so in favor of and is enamored with for it being ascribed to and named after him.
BOEHNER! YOU PUSSY! DO D—DAMNED JOB!!!
Flippin flake.
Sorry, I’ll send you a box of Kleenex...
here it is in a nutshell...
and this will piss off every damn one of you “Roberts is a traitor” types on this here forum...
fubo is delaying implementation for one reason..
once the tax is appealed (2014 until fubo’s little game changer) the tax and “penalty”(which was never a penalty and was always a tax, read the bill, all 3000 pages of it)are found unconstitutional, the whole thing unravels like a cheap rope.....
he is keeping it alive for another year, hoping one of the conservative or federalist judges retires or dies...
the roberts ruling was not a blessing for fubocare, it was a carefully written ruling that would end it once and for all, and prevent this kind of crap from ever happening again....
if one of the conservative or federalist justices suddenly goes away, then i would look for foul play..
and I can finally say to all you naysayers..
I TOLD YOU SO......
The S**thead of the House of Representatives opens his mouth. As usual, a giant turd comes forth. This guy is not even smart enough to realize that delaying implementation of any part of Obamacare will only serve to help Obama and the Dems in the 2014 election. To say that Boehner is unbelievable would be a huge understatement.
