Texas is going to be vulnerable to a big Dem push...my money is on AG Greg Abbott(R) if he decides to run
Texas is not vulnerable this time around, it'll be 2018 or 2022 at the earliest. The Dems don't have any viable candidates, and don't mention the pro-abortion Wendy Davis, because her seat is too valuable to the Dems in the Senate.
I believe it will be Abbott, the people who told me that there would be pressure on Perry to step down from re-election were Abbott backers.
Although if Kinky Friedman runs on another platform of not doing anything if elected, a lot of folks could probably get behind that at this point ;-)

You know Jeff Ward is messing up his pants today.
And all you Perry haters: just hide and watch. This man is about to do some extreme damage to poshitus.

I like him but Perry was his own worst enemy in the debates. Hope that’s different next time.

Re:
... the tuition breaks for illegalsThese so-called tuition breaks are not specifically for illegals, they are for the children of illegals who have established long-term residency in Texas. These children may or may not themselves be illegal, but it is all predicated on long-term Texas residency, as well as acceptance in the schools. It's not like UT an A&M are throwing their doors open to people who have just walked across the river. (Yes, you can walk across the Rio Grande for much of its length. Think of it as a 1900 mile long creek.)

There is no way a Dem will win Texas for a few decades, unless Shamnesty is somehow passed.
Dems had a chance in the 80's before the Democratic Party became the Demonicrat Party. Now, the differences, at least nominally, are so stark, most Texans would elect GW Bush again before they would elect someone from the Party of Satan.

Ugh. He could be ahead by 10 points in the polls and would find a way to blow it all during the debates. No thanks Rick.

When NRTL was meeting in Texas a couple of weeks ago, and Perry and Co. started pushing their phony NRTL-inspired “fetal pain” legislation, I thought he was running for POTUS. Grandstanding is his forte.

Jeff will be talking about “pointy boots” for the next week. I don’t listen to his show, unless he has a guest subbing. If I hear his voice, I hit the off button.
Check your FR mail in a bit.

If he runs for Prez how will that accord with the rising public sentiment against amnesty, since it is suppsedly such donors who support it?

Let’s just hope this time when he runs for prez, he gets the right century for when the American Revolution was fought. (Hint: it wasn’t the 16th century.)

FNC really blew it....Left the Perry announcement prematurely to have yet another lawyer debate about Zimmerman/Martin.
FNC, etc. all think that 8-hour a day trial coverage of local or state trials is more important than national news. The Jodi Arrias crap was the worst I've ever seen. That crap is partly why I avoid the networks.

I agree with your statements but it played out a bit different than your storyline. In desperation many went with Gingrich near the end despite his personal problems. There were few choices at that point so Santorum and Gingrich split the conservative vote. Conservatives were splintered all over the place in that election which allowed Romney to slide in.
I was good with Perry until I saw him debate. Deer in the headlights with no antlers. There are some who didn’t like Perry because of the corridor or dislike Texans or other reasons. Understand. Conservatives are like cats and hard to herd. I just hope conservatives can unite behind someone to stop Rubio.

Perry was recovering from back surgery and was medicated. Maybe this time he can remember the 3rd agency he would eliminate.
He's had gaffes before and after that year, and he graduated with a 1.9 GPA from college. If the medication made him that loopy/ignorant, then he showed poor judgement. Or the people around him did.
