That’s pretty much all Hollywood nonsense. If you have extremely clear audio sources that have not gone through “lossy” compression (cell phones, etc.) then you might be able to scientifically point to two sets of wave data “correlating” (preferably two audio sources saying the same thing, same tone, etc.). This is actually something people do much better than computers.
Most of the time you only have audio that is “altered” due to the microphone and transmission systems (audio compression), if you then add background noise or reduced amplitude (faint audio) it becomes impossible to determine this scientifically.
