Elaborating on his prediction on Good Morning America yesterday that George Zimmerman would be acquitted, ABC Chief Legal Affairs Anchor and Mediaite founder Dan Abrams wrote Sunday on ABCNews.com that, “Based on the legal standard and evidence presented by prosecutors it is difficult to see how jurors find proof beyond a reasonable doubt that it wasn’t self defense.”
The prosecution in the Zimmerman trial rested last week, after what many consider a weak presentation; the defense, which immediately filed lost a motion to dismiss the charges, will begin to call witnesses on Monday.
“Prosecutors are at a distinct legal disadvantage,” Abrams argued. “They have the burden to prove that Zimmerman did not ‘reasonably believe’ that the gunshot was ‘necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm’ to himself. That is no easy feat based on the evidence presented in their case. Almost every prosecution witness was called to discredit the only eyewitness who unquestionably saw everything that occurred that night, George Zimmerman.”
“Let’s put aside the fact that many of the prosecution witnesses seemed to help Zimmerman in one way or another,” Abrams wrote. “Even if jurors find parts of Zimmerman’s story fishy, that is not enough to convict. Even if they believe that Zimmerman initiated the altercation, and that his injuries were relatively minor, that too would be insufficient evidence to convict.”
Abrams cited both Zimmerman’s injuries, and the testimony of the closest witness, who said he saw Trayvon Martin on top of Zimmerman during their fight, as more than enough to create reasonable doubt in a jury, especially one considering a murder and manslaughter charges rather than lesser crimes.
Abrams also pointed out that Zimmerman’s claim of self defense was legally strong.....

Or manslaughter. If it was all a tragic accident it would be manslaughter. By the way, self defense is an affirmative defense.
Abrams is telling us why GZ *should* be acquitted.IMO he’s more than a little naive if he believes that he *will* be acquitted.It’s far more likely that this jury of six women won’t be nearly brave enough to acquit...conviction for such a jury,particularly in a case as racially charged as this,is the easy,safe,non-controversial course.

Obama’s media is trying to railroad a citizen that was trying to protect the public..Just another way for them to say we need gun control..Seems strange we never hear about all the murders in Chicogo..and there are dozens a week or even a day, by hoodlems with guns..
They continue to show the 5 year old picture BECAUSE it helps to cement in your mind the cute, little, hoodie-wearing youngster who was
stalked by this monster.
In reality “little Trayvon” at the time of his death stood almost 6’2” tall and weighed 175 muscular pounds. He had numerous run ins with authorities (both at school and local police), had been stopped and almost arrested two days before his death for smacking a bus driver in the face, because the driver refused to let him ride for free. He was released because the driver was told not to press charges by the bus company and to continue on his route.
When “little Trayvon” was suspended at school it was not only because he tried to bring a little marijuana in with him, he was in possession of
wedding rings and other jewelry, watches, etc. that he said he “found” along with a large screwdriver while on the way to school that day. The
jewelry was turned over to the Police by the school.
I am not trying to say this was a good shooting. I am not trying to say this kid deserved to die. I am saying the media in the USA is controlled by liberals who twist and distort what you see and hear in order for you to see things their way.
Not a single paper has printed RECENT photos of this kid, because it would not keep your interest in this case.
Not a single paper will admit that this kid was a marijuana dealer. His friends on Facebook all said he had the “best plants.” Not a single paper will show you any of his recent photos where he shows off a mouthful of gold teeth and all of his tattoos.
Not a single newspaper will tell the news like it really is...and NOT how they want you to think it is.
President King Obama looked at the FIVE year old photo the media chose to show the Nation and said, “If I had a son...he would look like Trayvon.” So from that comment should I assume you did not bother to look for the facts in this shooting or should I assume you want a son who is a 17 year old drug dealing, gold teethed, tattooed thug whose name on one of his Facebook profiles was “Wild Nigga” who ‘finds” jewelry and burglary tools on the way to school?
A fair and impartial news media in the USA? One that does not follow the liberal agenda? Is NOT looking to further divide this already fractured Nation?

In the two months following Trayvon Martin’s death, black assailants carried out at least 14 fourteen known attacks against white victims with the idea of “avenging” the fallen youth.
In East Toledo, six juveniles beat a 78-year-old white man, shouting: “This is for Trayvon … Trayvon lives, white [man]. Kill that white [man]!”
In Gainesville, five blacks shouting “Trayvon!” beat a 27-year-old white man, leaving his face permanently disfigured. In another Gainesville incident, a black crowd shouting “Trayvon!” assaulted and stomped on a white man who was trying to recover his female companion’s purse from the hands of a black thief.
In Chicago, two black teenagers beat and robbed a 19-year-old white man because, as one of the attackers explained, they were angry about Trayvon Martin.
In Baltimore, a group of blacks beat and robbed a white man, stripping him naked, then posted a video of the assault online with the caption: “me an my boys helped get justice fore trayvon.”
In Mobile, a white man named Matthew Owens was brutalized by twenty African Americans armed with brass knuckles, bricks, chairs, bats and steel pipes after he asked them to stop playing basketball in the street directly in front of his home. As the assailants left the scene, one of them looked back at the victim, who was bleeding profusely, and shouted,: “Now that’s justice for Trayvon!”
It is unlikely that many Americans have heard of these racial attacks, because the perpetrators are protected by a media that does not want to notice that the racists are black, and their victims are white.

The DA is trying to convict an innocent man.
We certainly do not have a Free Press.
We have a Nazi Propaganda press.
Even manslaughter from what I understand, in the state of Florida, Zimmerman would get 30 years in prison, because the “victim” was under the age of 18 and a gun was used..thats probably what the prosecution hopes will happen..go for the 2nd degree charge, the jury won’t want to convict him of that, but will want to convict him of something so they say “Hey what the hell, let’s convict him of manslaughter” not knowing that Zimmerman can get the exact number of yrs in prison..the only just verdict here is not guilty
To the headline: because there is no damn case.
I hope there is ONE thinking woman on that jury. One, at least just one. One who can disengage from thinking of her own children in the place of the one who was killed, one who can evaluate the evidence dispassionately, one rational thinker. One, just one. I’d take more but we need just one.
I have watched that trial every day. I’ll be watching tomorrow.

Therein lies the problem. Even the Judge won’t follow it.
I would say it's the POLITICAL MACHINE that is trying to convict an innocent man.

If there is an acquittal or a hung jury, expect Eric “The Racist” Holder to pursue federal criminal charges against Zimmerman on behalf of Barack Hussein Obama’s imaginary son.
And if Trayvon’s mother was any kind of a human being, when these attacks on innocent white victims happened she should have been in front of a TV camera shouting, “How DARE you attack innocent people in my son’s name! Stop it NOW!”
But what did we get from the likes of her? Zip. Nada. Jack squat. Speaks volume about the likes of this creature.
He is making one huge assumption — That the jury will FAIRLY consider the evidence and not be pressured by racial politics and other threats.
Hey, if John Roberts can succumb to pressure...
guilty... 1)the jurors are all afraid for their life if they vote NG or to acquit
2)they are afraid the riots will be blamed on them if they do
3)they know it will get appealed so kicking the can down the road is in their best interest...
it's not a trial, it's a spectacle
