And 16-year-olds are destined to become 17-year-olds.

Quinn. Must. Go.
Good Lord I hate this hell-hole of a state. I swear I'm dead and in purgatory for something I did while I was alive.... I can find no other rational reason for the crap that happens in this state.

I don’t understand laws. How can one person in that capacity
make such a law that will effect the whole country because of the outcome of elections? Can’t something be done to squelch it?
I can see where 0bama might get away with making millions of illegals ‘citizens’ just for votes, but this guy deciding this is a bit much.

This in a state where you’re lucky if the 17-year-olds can read.

It was better when the age to vote was 21. Few US young people age 17-21 are interested in the ins and outs of politics, the economy or realize that wishes acted on sometimes have unfortunate consequences.
The young are impressionable consumers who think daddy will cover their debts, follow trends however silly, they are self-centered and only offer sympathy if it gains them status or rewards. Their education has omitted most of the history about what the constitution and freedom means. The military is about the only finishing school that offers them the necessary values and truths of America.

Except of course for those 17 year olds who are home schooled.

So he wants to influence candidates that are up for primary eh? What could go wrong with bus loads of impressionable 17 year-olds being brought in to screw with the GOP.
To: Libloather
In Ohio 17 year olds who will be 18 by the next general election are allowed to vote for candidates only (not on issues). This makes sense, considering that they will be able to vote for the candidates who win the primary, so they should have a voice in choosing candidates in the primary.

How will they prove they are 17? Photo ID? That can’t be fair. Disenfranchised voters and all.

One of the reasons Democrats forever win. They are constantly taking advantage of the killer egalitarianism prejudices and adding voters among the soul sick, the stupid youth, felons, aliens etc. Soon the Republicans will not even need to show up for an election. Lord! The Republicans are stupid they played Democrats lite forgetting that the "the coalition" wanted Democratic heavy.
Look at the census breakdowns and tease out the 17 year olds and one will determine how many voters the Democrats added in Illinois.

Statement: "Sponsoring Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, said in a statement that the measure was only fair since 18-year-olds are already voting for candidates in the general election.
Response: Why stop at 17. Are not three year olds already voting in elections?

The Dems just hate free and fair elections by an informed electorate of legal citizens.
They are always angling to game the election system.
Perhaps is is occurring to older voters (say, 18 and up) that Democrat governance inevitably leads to economic pain and suffering. .

This is about the only case where I believe a new Federal law should intervene. Voters must be age 21 with state-issued photo ID.
To: Libloather
Ohio has the same law. I don't know how it is handled if there are other issues on the ballot in addition to the primary votes.

They should let everyone vote at age 10. I know lots of democrat voters who are NOT smarter than a fifth grader.

Get the state out of the political party primary business altogether. The taxpayers shouldn’t be paying for the internal affairs of political parties, and government most certainly shouldn’t be running them.
