Of course those sorts of checkpoints are not right culturally, and unconstitutional to boot.
Immigration is easy to fix if we want to fix it. No checkpoints required.
No healtcare unless you can pay cash. No housing without showing and verifying your green card. No access to schools without showing and verifying a green card. Everything else people talk about in regards to illegal immigrants is just stupid.

You don't even have to do that, you just start throwing a lot of management types of companies hiring illegals in prison, or shutting down said companies, and the jobs will dry up and they will go elsewhere. They are here because "American" companies hire them.
Here in Texas where I'm at, there is a reason why some of the largest donors to the higher political offices (such as Governor/Lt. Gov.) and some of the more important seats/position in the legislature are in the homebuilding and grocery business, and why support for guest worker programs was high.
