So I’m suppose to take your post seriously, which implies if you can’t drive under the influence alcohol should be banned and we’ll end up with another Joe Kennedy giving us generations of crazy womanizing liberals?
Wow, what logic!
And there's the problem right there. You may have a general idea on how much you can drink and not feel what you think is drunk. That doesn't mean you aren't impaired or that after having a few your “limit” changes.
Thank you. I have no problem with spirited debate. I do have a problem with debate skills from others that only amount to name calling.
Then work to change the law based on science, not how much you think you can put away in one night and you’ll have no problem.
Well it is a fact that I do, and as I said, I place my personal limit on the low side. Contrary to what you think, people can be and are responsible for themselves. And any day of the week I'll put myself, at my one or two beer limit, up against someone texting or even just talking on a cell phone. Or for that matter, the town cop driving around with the constant distraction of one of those ever more present laptop computer screens in his face.
But that is all beside the point of the OP which is, lining everybody up and smelling their breath and otherwise poking around in their business is lousy police work and a violation of people's rights.
I'll keep mine, thank you.
Sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle still smoking with dead children laying in the street. If you were ever an EMT you would know it if you saw it. It is seared into your brain forever.
Yes, it is if you would think about it logically instead of reacting emotionally to propaganda.
We've had reckless driving laws almost ever since the automobile was invented.
That should be sufficient without a subset of "DWI" laws.
Yes, I did a stint as an EMT.
More children drown in bathtubs, mop buckets and 5 gallon buckets than are killed by "drunk" drivers.
What are you going to do about that, start "Mothers Against Mop Buckets"?
I thought this thread was about drunk drivers. I commented on that subject. If you want to change the subject, start a “mop bucket” thread.
Just demonstrating faults in logic and the hysteria surrounding "drunk" drivers.
Sorry if you are offended by that.
Ping.
Offended by ridicule?
Me three. I never cease to be amazed at the half vright nanny staters that post on FREE REPUBLIC of all places. It boggles the mind.
You have a one or two beer limit? Seriously, that’s great. Because a lot of people have the two or three six pack limit and wonder why the cops think they shouldn’t be driving.
I can’t find the exact video, but will read the thread. Thanks for the ping....can’t wait to see the expected comments....
“If you cause an WRECK while impaired, you are charged with attempted murder. If you kill someone while driving impaired, you face FIRST DEGREE MURDER. After all, you made the decision to drive impaired.”
I could buy into this, if it was equally applied to all negligent driving. I had a friend killed on his way to work one morning, the other driver was busy texting and didn’t notice that traffic had stopped on the freeway. She rear ended my friend and he was killed instantly. He was survived by a wife and 3 children (6, 4 and 4 mos.)
That should be considered vehicular manslaughter, yet that driver never spent a day in jail. I would like to see all negligent driving treated equally, if a negligent driver causes physical or property damage to other parties, then they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, regardless of BAC.
“are a conservative exactly the same way that a person who empties a can of beans into a pot, heats it up an serves it, is a cook so profoundly mistaken in fundamental principle as to be a fraud”
I call those of this ilk “convenient conservatives.” So long as it is convenient, then they are conservative, however if they get an opportunity push their particular brand of tyranny that is emotionally appealing for them then they are willing to dump conservative principles.
The population on FR seems to be growing.

“There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers — and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system.”
