He didn’t aim for the heart - he just shot hoping he would hit him somewhere. I heard a recording of his testimony to the cops and he said he thought he hadn’t even hit him - thought the shot went wild.
In the most likely scenario, Zimmerman didn't aim at all. He was underneath Trayvon, who was reaching for the gun, and Zimmerman grabbed it and fired in the direction of Trayvon. It just happened the bullet went through Trayvon's chest.
