Three police officers have been pulled from street duty for their safety in Southern California after a video of them shooting a dog dead as they arrested its owner hit the internet.
A cellphone video that had more than 3.7 million views on YouTube by Thursday morning shows the dog, named Max, being shot after scrambling out of a car's back seat through a window and lunging at officers who had handcuffed its master. The dog's owner Leon Rosby had been filming a police raid in Hawthrone California, and was arrested for alleged obstruction of justice.

You're recommending a black guy in SoCal get in his car fumbling with keys after he notices cops coming at him? And you're opinion how you think that would have ended?
personally i don’t think it’s the same thing. the guy put the dog in his car. fine in hindsight the windows were too low but he was not trying to get his dog shot. and as for filming the cops’while they are in public, as’long as you aren’t interfering and this guy wasn’t, we have to be able to film cops. if they can film us we can film them. govt’officials can’t do stuff without fear of being filmed while doing it.
well he did get his dog into his car. so he was able to do that.
Wow, that’s gonna piss off some FReepers.........
You failed to mention the Gestapo marching about a half block to the guy then cuffing him withou any resistance on his part.........Whassup wit dat bro?
Yell to the cops “Let me secure the dog in the car”?
I wasn't paying attention to that detail. But it's irrelevant. Sadly careless, but not germane to the illegal and inhumane brutality of the thugs masquerading as protectors of the people.
We should all shut the hell up, sing the Obama Party line and then it wouldn't matter if the NSA watched everything we did. (paraphrasing Lindsey Grahamnesty)
I'm not being snarky, just emphasizing a point.
The cops did wrong the moment they responded to the shouting outsider.. However, this might have all happened according to that man’s plan, resulting in massive YouTube hits and outcry for a CHA-CHING $$$$$ lawsuit; windows down, willingness to be handcuffed, dog defending owner.. Hmmm.. I have no way of knowing this, but I do know that some people view their dogs as ‘tools’, not loving pets.
He seemed a bit too eager to be handcuffed for me not to be suspicious of this whole thing.
>>The guy should have rolled up the windows in his car 1/2 way so the dog...<<
Nooooo, the cops should have left the guy alone that was filming them. Funny how those who are to protect and serve are intimidated by someone recording their actions.
???
In a related incident, 3 Pigeon Forge (TN) cops have been fired for lying about discussing killing their dayshift colleagues.
Unless the Rottie knows how to roll them down.
Are you saying Zimmerman will sue for millions?
I don't know. I'll be the first to admit that the video could be missing pertinent aspects of the incident; given proper evidence I could back down somewhat. But, the militarization and aggressiveness of police in this country has become so obvious and widespread that frankly when I see something like this, I feel justified in considering the cops guilty until proved innocent. Which, if you think about it, is how we are all treated now by them.
Look, you see/hear daily examples of groups of cops in tactical gear and military grade weaponry smashing in doors for people with outstanding traffic warrants or things of that level of seriousness. This is a trend that has been progressing for decades, encouraged and financed by the federal government (clue!). It needs to be seriously confronted every time it happens. We are very near the tipping point of becoming a police state.
Pigs and swine should be sharing space in prison with their “customers”
You don’t arrest s guy for blsring his radio and THEN shoot his dog. What’s wrong with you?
The cops are guilty.
'I know it's the dog's master, and more than likely not going to attack him, (but) we've got a guy handcuffed that's kind of defenseless. We have a duty to defend him too,' Swain said.
This is the dumbest statement in the article. This tells me the cops are grasping at straws.
Can’t say what I think on an open forum. This is shameful. Are we North Korea?
I would have freaked out if they had shot my dog. Horrible sight to see even on line. Come on, the officers have training for multi- situations. They keep this up they are only looking over zealous. I don’t like these dogs because they are so unpredictable but I did not see the dog attacking to justify this cruelty.
