The hammerless airweight (.38 special +P) is what I picked for a winter ‘parka pocket’ pistol. If need be, multiple rounds through the pocket into the perp with very little chance of malfunction. If the perp is that close and the situation that dire, forget drawing the weapon. I can always get a new parka. Mrs. Joe has one for the times she carries a purse—same concept.
Yes, the hammerless one for me, too. I have one of those pocket holsters that has a sort of velveteen nap that sticks to the inside of my pocket whilst letting the gun slide out with ease. As long as my front pocket is big enough, the handle does not show and the gun does not print. People can tell I've got something in the pocket, but it looks no different than my other front pocket which houses wallet and keys. If things look dicey, I can have my hands in my pockets and be ready to draw immediately. I have only once drawn the gun, and that was to shoot a pit-bull that attacked my Corgi on a walk one evening.
I bought it for my wife, but she does not like the extra kick that this lightweight gun produces. She prefers our heavier old-style S&W with a hammer because it's a steadier firing platform.
