I have five gallons of non-hybrid seeds in my freezer, a basement full of storage food, deep water well, natural salt source nearby, plentiful game and fowl. Yep, we’re preppers and the arms to protect it all.

What is your plan for fat/oil in your diet, if I may ask? Does that come from hunting, do you have a product with a long shelf life, or is there another option?

We have several gallons of vegetable oil in storage. The shelf life isn’t great. We use it as needed and replace. On the upside, our local Mulies and Whitetail deer are quite fat.

Crico in the can has a longer shelf life than the liquid oils. I keep the Crisco in the freezer.

Plant “Black Oil” Sunflowers. When the seeds are ready, harvest them and get the oil out of them - healthy oil. The seeds will last a year so get oil out when you need it. Plenty of seeds to plant them again and again.

If you are interested in this, Freepmail me for articles I wrote about this oil, plus another type of Sunflower that produces tubers like potatoes. Gobs of tubers to leave in the ground until you want to dig some to eat which can be eaten raw or cooked. These Sunflowers repeat grow on their own. Then, there’s another Sunflower with gobs of seeds for eating - these seeds are not the black oil ones.

Sunflowers and Egyptian Walking Onions can keep you alive. Egyptian Walking Onions repeat grow - plant them once and that’s it - onions forever.
