Alan Kessler has shaken the money trees for President Bill Clinton, Senator and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, and countless other Democrats, notably former Gov. Ed Rendell.
Now the Democratic powerbroker and Center City lawyer is co-sponsoring a $5,200-a-ticket fundraiser July 9 for Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania. And the Democrats 2010 nominee, who wants a rematch with Toomey in three years, is not too happy about it.
We need more Pat Toomeys, Kessler said. Time and time again he has reached across the aisle to work with Democrats and do what people are looking for: someone who goes to Washington and gets things done.

Yup.
Time and time again he has reached across the aisle to work with Democrats”
Yep! Like working to chop away at the 2nd amendment, following in Specter’s footsteps.
Abolish the Senate
You got to hand it to the Democrats. They play hardball while the GOP plays badminton.
I gave Toombly money to get rid of Sphincter. Wish I’d known Sphincter was on his way out anyway.
The dems get pretty much what they want with the media.
Scary- cat republicans who will not fight for conservative principles, we get this. Why have 2 parties.
Pelosi has strategy; Boehner has liberal staffers.
Seconded.
Actually, we need more Ted Cruz’s.
Someone who will sell us all out to cut backroom deals with Joe Manchin? Yep, they sure do.
Ted Cruz is a Senator, so I wouldn’t have to much faith in him. Why would he remain conservatives, when all the other alleged conservative elected to the Senate become left wingers.
My question is always...which would be worse? A liberal "Republican" or a liberal "Democrat"?
I'm curious to know about Toomey's votes when he is not "reaching across the aisle"...has he ever come through with a crucial conservative vote when it was most needed?
I also think that activism is great, and the "high-profile" people accomplish a lot, but you have to get elected to have an actual vote on any legislation.
From my viewpoint, Mitt Romney was rather far from my idea of the perfect candidate, but I certainly voted for him rather than "sit out" the election. Alas, many other conservatives did not vote for Romney, and so we have the consequences of a 2nd 0bama term, with all the ramifications that will follow from living with another 4 years of his policies, cabinet choices, executive orders, etc....
Personally, given only two choices I would always prefer even a squishy conservative who occasionally votes in line with my views to a dyed-in-the-wool screaming liberal, that would never vote my views, and would be likely to "one-up" on every issue! But of course, that's JMHO.
Last thought: one of the replies on the original article posted an excellent question..."where are the Democrats that reach across the aisle"?? LOL! Good point! Maybe Joe Manchin (sic) of W. Virginia, on an issue or two, every now and then, but they are few and far between.
Pretty soon we’ll be hearing that Toomey is an expert on Scottish law.
Conservative lawyers like Scalia, Alito and Thomas are less likely to become RINOs.
The same can be said of whether Mike Lee would become a RINO.
Rubio has never had a real job.
Toomey could get primaried by any of 12 Congressman.
PA Freepers—what is the status of the PA Voter ID law?
Joe Manchin votes for budgets that will never get to Obama’s desk. Votes to allow Obama stack the courts.
Then he betrays Byrd and votes for Amnesty without consulting WV.
Byrd was good on amnesty. On the whole spectrum. The cheap labor and the hispandering.
I’m in agreement with you. We need to keep voting for the “lesser of two evils” in general elections. The alternative is worse; sitting out only leads to lefty victories. Idealogical purity is what primaries are for. If we keep primarying these RINOS, maybe they’ll eventually get the message.
