Hundreds of British soldiers to deploy to Libya 'within months' to train army ...

Hundreds of British troops are being prepared to deploy to North Africa to tackle al Qaeda-inspired extremists.

Under secret plans being drawn up urgently by top brass, UK soldiers would be sent ‘within months’ to the region to help train the Libyan army.

Political and military chiefs have acted amid mounting fears that Libya is rapidly becoming a safe haven for Islamist fanatics after Coloner Gadaffi was toppled in October 2011.

But critics have raised concerns that Britain could suffer ‘mission creep’ and be sucked into another bloody war just as fighting in Afghanistan - which has cost 444 UK lives - is drawing to a close.

Military officers warned the proposed deployment would risk ‘overstretch’ as it takes place when the MoD is axing nearly 5,000 soldiers this year, controversially reducing the size of the Army from 102,000 to 82,000.

And immediately after that article:

Rumour of UK troop deployment quashed

The British government has strenuously denied claims made by a UK newspaper that hundreds of soldiers are to be deployed in Libya.

The Daily Mail appears to be standing by the original story.

Wait a second, wasn’t it not that long ago that the UK and American forces helped the “rebels” overthrow the Libyan Army and Gadhaffi?

Now the Brits are going to train the Libyan army fight the rebels.

Beam me up, Scotty.

I heard a report somewhere recently, perhaps saw one concerning a UK security cabinet meeting with the opposition leader (Ed Milliband) invited in to it.

The David Cameron government apparently had a very important meeting going on last week. Perhaps Syria was the matter, maybe this????

The meeting report from June 24th in the Guardian speaks of Iran, Afghanistand and Syria being on the table for the cabinet meeting with Miliband invited.

Of course, they may have brought up other matters for all we know.

Why don’t we “Westerners” just leave the mid east and let them butcher one another. All these people will do is turn on us. As it is, they go butt up to the West, 5 times a day. We should keep out of it. We didn’t need them before and sure don’t need them now. If we keep the politicians and president out of energy, we can flood the world with natural gas, crude oil, diesel, and everything else made of petroleum.

Pay no attention to the utter contradiction behind that curtain.
