THE TEA PARTY RISES UP AGAINST AMNESTY

It took a while, but the Tea Party movement seems now to be in full cry against amnesty-style immigration reform. The cry isn’t unanimous but, according to this article in Politico, it’s overwhelming:
Activists are promising to spend the congressional recess reminding lawmakers who support the Gang of Eight legislation what the base is capable of. Think loud town halls, jammed phone lines and primary challenges down the road echoes of Obamacare three years ago.
“The anger is more intense now than it was in 2010, said Judson Phillips, founder of Tea Party Nation. They are more upset about the amnesty bill than they were about Obamacare.
That last statement sounds like an exaggeration. But no Republican legislators supported Obamacare, so there was no cause for anger against incumbent Republicans in 2010 on that score. Even so, the Tea Party took down several prominent Republican legislators over financial bail-out related issues.
I wouldn’t be surprised if many in the Tea Party are as upset about “bailing out” 11 million or more lawbreakers as they were about bailing out troubled financial institutions.
In any event, House Republicans have little incentive to find out. As Politico notes, as a result of the cynical creation of safe congressional districts for Black and Hispanic members, most Republican members represent districts with few Hispanics. And virtually all Republican members were elected in 2012, a year of extremely high minority turnout.
Perhaps the best evidence of Tea Party anger is the letter (rather cloying, I thought) that the movement’s former darling Marco Rubio recently wrote to “conservatives and Tea Party” activists.
The letter begins, “Over the last few days, I have received numerous emails and calls from conservatives and Tea Party activists from across the country regarding immigration.” That key words are “over the last few days.” They show that, although the outrage of the conservative base was slow to develop — in part, I think, because key Fox News shows initially didn’t much air the anti-amnesty side and, unlike Team Amnesty, that side lacked the resources to advertise on Fox — it has now arrived.
Congress might still enact amnesty-style reform. But I’m more optimistic now that it won’t than I was a week or two ago.

For all its bluster and fury, the Tea Party has failed to stop ANY of the Obama agenda.
I'm guessing the left isn't worried about Amnesty either.

A replay of the Obama care debate. Furious voters will try and confront their representatives and they will be ignored.

If the tea party wasn’t effective then Romney, Rove and Obama and the media would not be so against it.
Right now tea party politicians are leading a powerful opposition to the left and rinoism.

I wish some of us would also speak out against the pro-sodomite celebrations being forced upon us.

I jabbed my liberal family members yesterday by declaring that my past marriage wasn’t real anyway since I wasn’t married in a church and was only married by the state which made it meaningless.

You may be right about that but certainly the Tea Party gave rise to Ted Cruz and others who were instrumental in squelching gun control in the Senate.

For all its bluster?
I seem to recall that quite a few republicans bit the dust because of the TEA party. Remember when everyone was talking about holding the politicians’ feet to the fire? It seems to me that the only ones doing that are the TEA parties.
You can tell who the left is worried about by counting the number of stories they publish saying who they are not worried about. Neither they nor the GOPe have yet to stop griping about the TEA party and the govt. has targeted them with most of their investigating and regulating agencies. So yes, they are still quite worried.
When the TEA parties say that they are angrier than before, the republicans should be very, very worried.

The folks who became the TEA Party took out amnesty the last time around.

The "tea party" was started by people who were fed up with invaders from Mexico crossing the border at will, and went out there themselves to identify border-crossers.
The movement got co-opted by "conservatives" who wanted less taxes, which of course everybody wants. The media gave the tax part a lot of attention, because everybody in power wants the cheap labor.
But constitutional conservatives remember what first got them started. If the 'pubs in the HOR don't stop this legislation in its tracks, nobody's going to vote for them.
I wonder if they're delusional enough to be surprised about the reaction to Rubio traitoring us on this, our biggest issue. It's past time for the HOR 'pubs to stand up. They stupidly left Boehner in power, it's up to them to figure out how to stop him from caving.
end of this rant.

I didn’t say it didn’t have the potential to be a big force.
I said so far, they haven’t stopped anything.
Can you think of anything the Tea Party derailed? I can’t.

I don’t think they stopped gun control in the Senate.
If they could, this Amnesty deal would also be dead. (The Tea Party got us Rubio!!!!!)
There was something else involved in the Gun Deal - and it wasn’t the Tea Party.

Yes and those Republicans were replaced by people like Rubio and Ayotte.
I didn’t say the Tea Party didn’t have potential.
I said it hasn’t stopped any part of the Obama agenda so far.
Can you think of anything the Tea Party has put the kabosh too?

I pointed out that it is a big force and has been for years, that is why you, Rove, Romney, Obama, Reid, and the media despise it so much.
The tea party, Palin, and it’s many election successes over the last few years is offering up the strongest conservative push back that we have seen in decades.
It isn’t going away anytime soon, this push back against immigration wouldn’t exist without it for example.

I don't despise the Tea Party.
It needs to get off its ass and FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT.

The strongest push back?
Tell me exactly what the Tea Party has stopped so far.
Taxes are up.
Gay Marriage is now legal.
Spending is up.
The Amnesty deal is being brought to us by Tea Party favorite Marco Rubio.
What has the Tea Party stopped?
Where is this giant push back?
It isnt going away anytime soon, this push back against immigration wouldnt exist without it for example.
This is 2006 Amnesty redo. It was defeated then without the Tea Party.
Note that this 2013 Amnesty battle is not over. There is a very real possibility that it will pass.
Republicans are talking tough now, but they always do right before giving the left everything it wants.

LOL, OK, you think the tea party is useless and hasn’t accomplished anything in it’s 3 or 4 years of existence.
You don’t like them and they haven’t managed to save America yet from everything that you don’t like, so what, go complain to Rove.
