(CNSNews.com) - Joking that he was "moved almost to the point of tears by Sen. (Chuck) Schumer's concern for the future prospects of the Republican Party," Rep. Trey Gowdy said on Sunday the immigration bill passed by the Senate is dead on arrival in the House:
"The Senate bill is not going to pass in the House. It's not going to pass for myriad reasons," Gowdy told "Fox News Sunday."

Well, I did misstate that. I should have said that I would advise the entire GOP to back away and do nothing, not just him individually.
With regard to post 45, I have no love for the GOP whatsoever.
I do like a few outstanding people within it, such as Cruz, West and Palin. There may be a couple others too, but I can’t think of them offhand.
But yes if they pass this, I expect that they are done and we are done and America is done.
They shall not be forgiven for such, but forgiveness does not matter as the damage will have been done.
I do believe this match is for all the marbles.
Gowdy did not say that he was for a path-to-citizenship. In fact, he also said in that same FNS transcript:
The other thing that's important to keep in mind, John, is the 11 million is not a homogeneous group. All of the 11 million do not desire citizenship. So, it would be curious indeed to force citizenship on someone who does not want it.
What about the Dreamers? I personally don't want them to get the right to vote (nor to import their entire family), but I also don't think either party is going to deport them. Will the House carve out citizenship for them? I think that would be a classic slippery-slope mistake. I am not 100% at ease with legalization-only of the Dreamers either, (but what is a realistic political alternative, given that the GOP has a record of disgraceful cowardice?) because once they get legalized by law, I foresee rogue judges, EOs, bureaucrats, etc. helping them to get from 3rd base to home plate.
Gowdy continues: You would agree with me you should have a different level of scrutiny for a child who's been here for 10 years and was brought through no will or no action of his or her own, as opposed to a 30-year-old who's been here for three weeks. You would not want the same scrutiny or the same level of analysis for those two groups.
The statement you quoted, which sounds a little weasely when read alone, should be read in the context of the entire transcript. And Gowdy, if he wants keep the loyalty of the conservative base, should watch what he says on TV.
I should have added another thing I don't like about the House's immigration plan: The notion that as long as the law has better border security, we all live happily ever after. Gowdy said in your quote, "But whether border security is a condition precedent, which it would be in my case, is a very important distinction.
Note Gowdy has been fighting with Napolitano, Holder, etc. because they choose what parts of the law to enforce. What's wrong with this picture?
Sorry about the long post. I have more ideas but I will stop here.
S’alright; keep going.
Ryan may be getting stale for those who are paying attention. Remember Spock on Star Trek who said, "Only Nixon could go to China." IOW, you need a very convincing conservative character to sell amnesty.
If I were a pro-amnesty fanatic power broker, I would try to get a white anti-Obama southerner to be the House version of Rubio.
I don't accuse Gowdy of being Nixon in this metaphor. I will watch how this plays out.
Thanks: I wanted to add a bullet to my list of concerns about the GOP “Comprehensive” immigration bill. I am just combining things from a couple of my posts here.
1) Boehner/Cantor/Ryan, at some point, could decide they like a path-to-citizenship and try to purge committees of those who don’t play ball.
2) I don’t like the fact that the House immigration bill is called “comprehensive” and I don’t like the size of the bill (which I have heard would be a big lump composed of whatever immigration bills the House passes). Something that big would surely go to conference, where we would see Rubio, McCain and Goober, etc. again.
3) The notion that as long as the law has better border security, we all live happily ever after. Gowdy said, “But whether border security is a condition precedent, which it would be in my case, is a very important distinction. Note Gowdy has been fighting with Napolitano, Holder, etc. because they choose what parts of the law to enforce. What’s wrong with this picture?
Bullet point 2 is what some FReepers say they expect Boehner to try to push through the House over conservatives wishes. I tend to agree this rush to conference must be sidetrack somehow.
sidetracked
I have not heard any GOP house member say no immigration bill at all (maybe there are a few but I doubt they are on the Judiciary committee). Gowdy has said they need to pass something.
From the FNS interview, it's clear that Gowdy is sympathetic toward the Dreamers. They could pass a Dream Act with more border security (but you know already what I think about the chances of actual enforcement). That would go to congress and I think (behind closed doors) the conference would either agree on:
A) Nothing, or
B) Full amnesty with blanket citizenship, with some house-inspired border security language.
There should be a law that says that the conference committee has to be televised (with national security exceptions). Yes, they could still meet privately somewhere too, but they would have to show something that looks like a discussion/debate.
My congressman is not on the Judiciary Committee. Can you call Gowdy's office and ask them how they are going to pass a "comprehensive" immigration bill and ensure that a path-to-citizenship is NOT added in conference? Just a suggestion.
In the meantime, I’ll email him.
Done deal.
Here's one much more diabolical but what the heck? I want to play too.
Say Bohner cant get a bill that has >51% GOP support through the house because all Dems keep voting 'NO' joining about 20 GOPs that vote No too (like the Farm Bill, what is going to happen with that??)
So Bohner waits until AFTER the GOP primaries next year and then passes the Senate bill as is and naturally Obama signs it. Too late to take out GOP house members.
Then next years November the GOP picks up seats in both houses, in November Rubio and Ryan cite Rubio-amnesty as the reason for the victory.
Rubio gets the nomination as the most electable 2016. He picks Ryan and they are called ‘the young guns’ on Time Mag cover as was Clinton Gore were in 1992.
We all live happily ever after, well maybe a few more wars to jump-start the economy and spread Democracy. Maybe Ryan stops pitching those cuts to medicaid and food stamps as we dont want to offend the new GOP voters.
Don't bills ever expire when the congressional term ends?
What works on the stupid makes me hate his guts. What a bullshite artist he’s turned out to be.
Technically No.
But In the scenario I made up Bohner would pass it after next years primary but before next years election which is the same term as now.
This way they go into midterms and pick up some seats and declared a new GOP has risen.
Repubs need to start mining disaffected voters who are incensed about Obama's antics. The stench from this admin's crimes/screw-ups stretches far and wide:

Clearly, the IRS targeting has put conservatives in the catbird seat---even left-wingers are appalled about the IRS targeting.
However, it is nauseating to see RINOs grab onto this issue---and run with it---as if they were really concerned about conservative interests.
RNC RINO Rancid Priebus was allover the tube moaning and groaning about conservatives being targeted b/c he knows this is an issue that could bring Repubs back to power....the same RNC that turned away conservatives and would not listen to their concerns few months back.
REFERENCE--FR POSTED---Grassroots Activists Turned Away at the RNC
United Liberty ^ | 4/16/2013 | Jason Pye / FR Posted on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 by Hilda
Just days after the Republican National Committee (RNC) rejected most proposed rules changes that would undo the power grab from last years convention, a number of grassroots activists stopped by the RNC to express their disappointment with party leaders and let them know that they would not give up the fight.
Shortly after 10am, around 50 activists (pictured at web site) showed up at RNC headquarters in Washington, DC to present a representative from the party with a open letter to Chairman Reince Priebus that hit at the heart of grassroots frustration with the party.
As grassroots fiscally conservative activists from states across the country, we are stopping by the RNC Headquarters in Washington today to express our disappointment in the Partys continuing marginalization of the individuals who are driving the only credible ground game to combat the progressive liberal political machine, read the activist-signed letter to Priebus. After reading the 100-page Growth and Opportunity Project, we had a glimmer of hope that the Republican Party was going to make a sincere effort to make the Party process more bottom-up and transparent in structure.
They continued: The opportunity to repeal the Tampa Power Grab last week was your first big shot at beginning to mend the relationship between the Party and the principled, small-government grassroots activists that youve disenfranchised, the letter continued. And you blew it.
At issue are two specific rules Rule 16 (A) (1) and Rule 16 (A) (2) which conservative grassroots activists consider unfair.
Rule 16 (A) (1) was upheld on the floor, giving national leaders the power to dictate how states bind delegates, the letter stated. This rule puts underdog challengers to the establishment at an immediate disadvantage with fewer delegates sent to the convention. This is only made worse by 16 (A) (2), which prevents principled challengers from growing their delegate count on the convention floor.
The activists say that Rule 16 (A) (2) was a watered down version of a power grab. They also note that the changes made at last weeks RNC meeting fail to restore the authority to state delegations to enforce and create their own rules.
In fact, it strengthens and reinforces the RNC power grab that outraged the grassroots last summer by giving the RNC Secretary full authority to ignore the delegates wishes. The letter also brought up the way the rules were adopted at the convention, which only highlights the distrust the grassroots has towards establishment.

The RNC should be put on notice---they cannot use conservatives to get back in power UNLESS rock-hard conservatives like Trey Gowdy and his surrogates are placed in key positions in the party---in DC and nationwide. This must happen now....or we will proceed without them.
More importantly it's time to ditch RINO conservative-haters like Priebus, the neocons, Rove, and the rest, who have continually kicked conservatives to the curb. They cannot be a part of any effort to clawback Republicans to power using the important IRS issue.
Rubio added FREE CELL PHONES for illegals.....you subsidize via your phone bills.
What else is hiding in this bill?
Accuracy in Media reports that the immigration reform bill includes two slush funds amounting to $150,000,000 that may be supplemented with additional taxpayer dollars for years to come. These funds would go to public or private, non-profit organizations such as the blood-thirsty La Raza, Casa de Maryland, and the leftist American Immigration Lawyers Association!
These, and multiple latino organizations are devoted to helping illegals apply for legal status. The bill not only provides amnesty for illegal immigrants, but does so as well for their employers.
As the conservative Center for Immigration Studies points out, Illegal aliens will be rewarded for breaking laws for which American citizens are routinely punished such as the use of fraudulent Social Security cards, while imposing a $1,000 penalty that in many cases would be waived. Then they would be issued a new Social Security number without any past bad credit or arrest records.

LA RAZA TEACHING HATE-AMERICA WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS La Raza Studies do not even try to sugar-coat its anti-America agenda and its bloodthirsty plans to kill off Americans: Raza Studies textbook Occupied America, by Rodolfo Acuña, includes a violent and blood-curdling speech given by university professor Jose Angel Gutierrez: We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is, if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him, (pg. 323).
The following is taken directly from La Raza's Occupied America (pg. 167): .......execute all white males over age 16, (AKA the Plan of San Diego).
America-hating Raza Studies teach (1) violence, (2) undermining US ntl security, and, (3) the need for Mexico to "re-take seven states in the Southwest...in order to make the SW a Chicano nation. "
SCHOOL BOARD NUT CASES Adelita Grijalva is the woman on the Arizona school board pimping La Raza indoctrination programs in Tuscon schools. Adelita is all up in arms about Raza Studies getting tossed via the AZ state legislature's action...she is the daughter of Raul Grijalva (D-AZ-7) who was just narrowly re-elected to our US Congress. Cong Raul Grijalva is one of Mexicos most productive and loyal Fifth Column in the US Congress....aiding and abetting the latino criminal underworld, colluding to take back the SW, and loot and pillage the US treasury.
Raul and friend.
