That is what they do if it is getting you to talk. Even if they brought you in for a violent rape they KNOW you committed, they will give you the impression that the woman probably deserved it and if you just tell them what happened they will come to your defense in court to say she had it coming. Then they use your testimony against you.

The goal is to put the talker at ease and get as much info as possible.
