not completely true, Smarty — Christianity spread well in Persia, Armenia, Georgia, Ethiopia, Kerala etc. in the first 4 centuries while being persecuted by Rome (caveat — remember that the Romans were also tolerant as well — “you follow whatever religion you want,just also worship the emperor as a symbol of Rome” — which Christians and Jews refused to do.)
