Full title: Sunday Show Roundup: Gang of Eight Optimistic Gowdy: The Senate bill is not going to pass the House
Sponsors of the Gang of Eight Immigration Bill expressed confidence that their legislation can pass the House of Representatives, despite the challenges it will face.
I believe that by the end of this year, the House will pass the Senate bill, said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) on Fox News Sunday. I know thats not what they think now and I know theyll say oh no, thats not whats going to happen, but I think it will.
Schumer cited support of groups, such as the Catholic Church and the business community, who dont typically side with Democrats. Schumers comments came during an appearance on Fox News Sunday.
Sen. John McCain (R., Az.) joined Schumer in arguing the bill would pass.
~~snip~~
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.) told FOX News Sunday, Im more interested in doing it right than on Senator Schumers schedule.
The Senate bill is not going to pass the House. Its not going to pass for a myriad of reasons. Gowdy reiterated, The issue is not the broad principles of the immigration reform and humanity and respect for the rule of law. Virtually everyone agrees on the broad principles, where we get ourselves into a little bit of a difference of opinions are the details.
Everyone agrees on border security for instance, but I can not sell, in South Carolina, a border security plan where the security comes after the legalization nor would I try to sell any of those plans, Gowdy noted.
~~snip~~
Ryan’s gone all in traitor.
Not today, anyway.
Schumer can drag out the Catholic Church to support the amnesty bill, but doesn’t seem to bring it up in the ObamaCare abortion battle.
This needs to be killed before it makes it to conference.
Finally someone with some stones in the GOP
So even Gowdy is for legalization and citizenship once the border is supposedly secured?
What is it with the GOP?
they want us to shut up so they can pass it. they did the same with bozocare. if bonehead allows a vote - it will pass
Ryan has joined Rubio..
Screw Ryan. He folded as quickly as Rubio.
Why is the House even taking it up?,just ignore it,move on to introducing bills shutting down the EPA,HHS,The Department of Education, etc, etc.
Amen.
Indeed he has. I’m beginning to believe the rumors that Hussein has acquired information on these people through his spying and is using it to blackmail them. Nothing else makes sense.
Is there a link here, Jim? LOL.
Sounds like Trey Gowdy is NOT for KILLING the BILL, by NOT bringing up the Senate’s traitorous monstrosity.
We all agree on the broad principles? For example "no amnesty" is a broad principle. Is Gowdy saying that everybody thinks there should be amnesty?
Everyone agrees on border security for instance, but I can not sell, in South Carolina, a border security plan where the security comes after the legalization nor would I try to sell any of those plans, Gowdy noted.
Gowdy seems to be saying that he will sell amnesty after so-called "border security".
Everyone agrees on border security for instance.”
Bull.
I was horrible disappointed with Ryan’s debate with that cartoonish Biden. Maybe he threw the debate - not that it would have mattered.
Hard to imagine he was blackmailed - he seems like Mr Clean.
Seems so.
So the guy who went after the IRS during the hearings, folds on amnesty?
I saw those interviews...wanted to punch McCain. The House has the right idea.. Create narrow-focused pieces of legislation. First up, border security. enough of these large, unwieldy, “comprehensive” bills. Not only do they NOT solve the problem, they are pork-laden with all kinds of crap by the time they see a vote...and no time to read them. That’s the Dem playbook.
