Legal Insurrection seems the type of site that's likely to attract quite a few lawyer types. So it is interesting and probably quite informative that after the first real week of George Zimmerman's trial, and after 816 votes, 94% of those who've voted say they believe George Zimmerman is winning his self-defense case.
31 people, less than 4%, have expressed the opinion that the prosecution is winning the case, with another 2% or so not sure.
Completely unscientific, of course, and not necessarily a reflection of what the jury will do in either case.
Still, I personally think it's a good indication of how things are going.
The poll agrees with my own assessment that assuming the case is judged on its merits, the prosecution is losing, and losing badly.
I’m sure you would have gotten a similar result during the OJ trial.
From what I’ve heard, it’s a slam dunk (as if it wasn’t all along) win for Zimmerman.
These polls mean nothing. Justice in this country is politics by other means. The Supreme court decisions are a testament to that.
You speak of what you’ve heard. Just curious: what type of sources are you referring to? Any with some inside knowledge of the case? Friends who are lawyers? Or general public opinion of people you’ve talked to?
My personal opinion from listening to the trial and reading updates.
It doesn’t matter what the public thinks. It’s only what the jury decides that matters.
My concern is how the ladies of the jury are responding to the defense. Will all of them see what the rest of America is seeing?
“after 816 votes, 94% of those who’ve voted say they believe George Zimmerman is winning his self-defense case.”
This after only the prosecution has presented its side. I don’t think the defense has put on its side yet.
I turned on Nancy Grace Thursday night for about 2 minutes, all I could stand. The liberal view, Zimmerman convicted already. Very sarcastic that defense painting Martin as a racist, poor little misused star witness, etc. I didn’t think that was a good sign.
Really? I think most people thought the prosecution had a strong case during the OJ trial, not the defense.
:shrugs:
However, I guess your point is a jury will do what it wants regardless of a poll.
I have a sinking feeling these women will convict Zimmerman no matter what to avoid offending black people and causing a possible riot.
But that filthy Gerald Rivera and others are now saying that Travon cannot get justice with the “all-white” jury.
Never mind the paucity of the evidence.
The media is whipping up race riots. Blood will be on their hands, and Obama will cheer them on.
BTTT
I’m praying for Zimmerman and his jury.
Yes. I think that's pretty remarkable.
Given the lack of any real evidence for the prosecution, maybe white people should threaten to riot if Zimmerman is found guilty.
Just sayin’.
1 (Prosecution Strongly) 2.53% (30 votes)
2 (Prosecution Somewhat) 1.18% (14 votes)
3 (Too Close to Call) 1.35% (16 votes)
4 (Zimmerman Somewhat) 19.76% (234 votes)
5 (Zimmerman Strongly) 75.17% (890 votes)
Total Votes: 1,184
You are correct. I guess I was referring to the consensus as to the certainty of the outcome of the trial.
If Bernie calls a few more witnesses like those he has so far the defense won’t need to.
