Egyptian security and medical officials say an American has been killed in the Mediterranean coastal city of Alexandria during clashes between supporters and opponents of Egypt's embattled President Mohammed Morsi.

Alexandria security chief Gen. Amin Ezz Eddin told Al-Jazeera TV that an American was killed Friday in Sidi Gabr Square while photographing the battles between opposition youth and members of the Muslim Brotherhood, from which Morsi hails.

A medical official told The Associated Press the American was wounded by gunshots and died at the hospital.

Six Egyptians have been killed in days of clashes ahead of nationwide protests Sunday demanding Morsi's removal.

SNIP

The State Department said Friday that Americans should defer nonessential travel to Egypt, citing the uncertain security situation. It also said it would allow nonessential staff and the families of personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo to leave Egypt until conditions improve.

Photo at Presidential palace at dusk....

I’ve been following this since last night...you could easily say the US press was in black out concerning this event.

Earlier photos on this thread of Obamas cargo ship splitting in half ...carrying weapons to Syria.....and that too was blacked out.

Remains to be seen if this gigantic crowd remains calm...but there are so many millions opposing Morsi I can’t see his supporters rising against this many...they are incredibly outnumbered to say the least.

Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood supporters are very motivated. I think they have visions of lots of government jobs and other goodies for themselves.

The Egyptian productive-class, meanwhile, is hurting. There's only so many leeches that can be supported.

I see only two possible outcomes:

1) The productive class, having to support more and more unproductive leeches, finally collapses, starvation becomes rampant, and the region all turns into another Somalia, or

2) The productive class finally has enough and starts killing every leech they can get their hands on.

<....”while 0 is in Africa”....>

Frankly I’m glad he’s not here....let him tour Mendella’s jail and get the feel of what’s coming for him...”In my dreams”.

I don’t ever recall any president I had such utter disrespect and dislike for.....even Biden looks better as at least he can be controlled if need be...and it would be needed! But better him then this we have now.

Having listened to the Egyptians speaking of why they are demonstrating.....your response makes sense.

However...at some point Egypt’s in for much hurt along the way before they are restored one day. If not in this moment in time...it will indeed come.

But when you listen to the people they are the two sides you mentioned...and really no different then what we have right here in the USA. The productive ones and the leeches.....so far the leeches are winning here.

CNN showing live Tahrir Square shot. Interviewing Reza Sayah (on Twitter: @ sayahcnn)

Interviewer: Is there any way to tell who outnumbers who?

lol

Sayah said anti-Morsi demonstrators vastly outnumber pro-Morsi in Tahrir Square and everywhere else in Eqypt.

Sayah said protest against Morsi government started months ago with campaign and a petition calling for the removal of Morsi and new elections.

The leaders of the campaign say they collected 22 mil signatures-— a world record. If that is correct, he said, it is 9 mil MORE people than voted for Morsi.

Interesting photo of the woman's area sectioned off....earlier today there wasn't even a handful there and the area small by comparison to now.

Almost all the Ikhwan are demonstrating in ONE SPOT IN EGYPT! It’s in Cairo near the Rab’aa el Adaweyya mosque in Nassr City.

The spot can’t take some thousands, NOT tens or hundreds of thousands to play the numbers game as liberals here do.

BTW, Nassr (NOT NassEr) City is where the Sadat Memorial is and certainly no Ikhwan would go there, afterall they assassinated him in 1981.
