Egyptian security and medical officials say an American has been killed in the Mediterranean coastal city of Alexandria during clashes between supporters and opponents of Egypt's embattled President Mohammed Morsi.
Alexandria security chief Gen. Amin Ezz Eddin told Al-Jazeera TV that an American was killed Friday in Sidi Gabr Square while photographing the battles between opposition youth and members of the Muslim Brotherhood, from which Morsi hails.
A medical official told The Associated Press the American was wounded by gunshots and died at the hospital.

Remains to be seen if this gigantic crowd remains calm...but there are so many millions opposing Morsi I can’t see his supporters rising against this many...they are incredibly outnumbered to say the least.
Not to mention the nations across the world now supporting the opposition in gathering themselves in solidarity with Egypt.
Numbers are at 17 million demonstrating...and Guiness Book stating Officially the largest ever.
Morsi will be limited what he can do...but as long as the crowd remains calm he’ll sit tight i think.
No doubt his phone is ringing from International leaders.....
Morsi is being reminded that he serves at the pleasure of the business class and their military.
National Salvation Front announces that escalation will be a call for a general strike
What a picture for a beautiful city.
FYI, Alexandria IS the HQ for the Moslem Brotherhood but all the coastal cities, on the Suez Canal, on the Mediterranean and the red see are taking care of business. They set the Ikhwan HQs ablaze already.
In Sidi Gaber, Alexandria, the American was killed by the Ikhwan when he approached to photograph their HQ BEFORE it was set afire. He was stabbed once in the chest and pronounced dead in the hospital. That was the report on Egyptian TV interviewing medical personnel at the time.
