Zimmerman Update Exclusive—Mid-Day 4—West’s Cross-Examination of Rachel Jeantel (Can't read!)
Legal Insurrection ^ | June 27, 2013 | Andrew Branca

Posted on 06/27/2013 4:26:03 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Hey folks,

We’re trying something different for today’s mid-day update. Rather than write a bunch of text, I’ve imbedded below some of the more key tweets I’ve made over the course of the morning. (This has the benefit of giving me a few minutes to each some lunch.)

Hopefully, the tweets below will give you a sense for how West’s cross-examination of Rachel Jeantel has gone so far this morning. We’ll have a detailed analysis, of course, in this evening’s end-of-day wrap-up post.

Enjoy, and be sure to check back in to our live coverage page at 1:14PM (EST), here:

BTW here's an interesting little poem by Phyllis Wheatly.

Twas mercy brought me from my Pagan land,

Taught my benighted soul to understand

That there's a God, that there's a Saviour too:

Once I redemption neither sought nor knew.

Some view our sable race with scornful eye,

"Their colour is a diabolic dye."

Remember, Christians, Negroes, black as Cain,

May be refin'd, and join th' angelic train.

That's not to say that she thought slavery had ever been good, she didn't and she was correct. She just recognized the great benefit of education and God regardless of the means she found them.

The video tape at the site above suggests that she previously admitted that she wrote the contents of the letter but that someone else then wrote a cleaner looking copy for her. I had not heard that detail before a few minutes ago.

In other words, the letter introduced into evidence was "fake but accurate". I wonder if Buckhead is listening?

Being a luddite terrified of old things becoming absolete is not a conservative value, fearful posturing of yourself and others not withstanding.

Language is an essential skill. Use of a particular rapidly fading method of preserving it rather than superior methods of preserving language, not so much.

People who can not conjugate their verbs properly or identify the subject of a sentence are noncompetitive in social interactions essential to their success. People who can’t write cursive are not.

If our company head asked for a report on business prospects in a new market and our sales rep sent back something in longhhand, it would be assumed he put no more work into the information compiled than he did the presentation. He just might wind up looking for a new job.

It is the epitomy of a nonessential skill.

Why do you think its a good thing that people not have the ability to read our nations founding documents in their original form?

Do you really want academics to be the only ones who can read and interpret those documents for following generations? That’s exactly what people like William Ayers have been working toward for the last 40 years.

STUPID Dana Perino said that the guy was just TOO TOUGH and CONDESCENDING on her!! OMG!! No WONDER we lose everything with "spokepeople" like Dana!!

Well......if the defense continues to cross examine her (in this manner) we're just going to see them accused of "witnessing the badger". I'm sure the prosecution will break in and state that to the court! Looking at the judge....I'm sure she'll concur.

Some badgers can take it..............others can't. We don't need no "Stinking Badgers"!

A couple years ago one of our state senators here in Michigan suggested that literacy in our constitution and other founding documents should be a requirement to get a high school diploma and liberals went rabid.

One liberal comment in the paper was either stupid or honest but told the truth about what liberals want. He wrote that clinging to those old scraps of parchment was hindering progress in America and we would be better off if they were long forgotten.

No matter how much you witness a badger, you’ll never convert them.

Why do you claim my position is something other than I have posted?

Are you really Mike Nifong?

I posted that cursive belongs in the history curriculum.

I still maintain that position.

It does not need to consume hours and hours every week of a students first several years learning to draw precisely replicated loops and curves.

Instead, lets get into things like boolean logic early.

It is fairly ironic that you would try to reword my position into being opposed to the teaching of cursive at all rather than advocating teaching it later and in conjunction with history.

The prosecution should have demanded that its star witness be permitted to read her letter in a neatly printed version from a Teleprompter. Some people just can’t function without such a device.

Wait a minute, Lauer said. That says, “Follow”, not “Following”. That’s so I can follow him if I want to, it doesn’t say that I am following him. de la Rionda appeared confused.

Lauer explained, “All this means is that Robert Zimmmerman is following ME, not that I’m following HIM.”

Like the late, lamented Master Trayvon Martin, she is a Miami high school student, not Sanford.
