Civil rights leader the Rev. Jesse Jackson tells the Associated Press that he will help embattled celebrity chef Paula Deen overhaul her image after her past use of a racial slur was revealed. He tells the AP that she shouldn't become a "sacrificial lamb" over the issue of racial intolerance.

The nail in the coffin for me was when Robert Irvine lied on his resume, was fired, and then rehired. Apparently, lying on your resume isn’t as bad as a racist statement under duress and 30 years ago.

Paula, while researching her roots, discovered that she was related to Jackson.
Jackson asked just who this common ancestor was and Paula said she only knew he was a boat builder and was named Noah, but at least he wasn’t a slave owner.
