Yesterday the UFCW released the following statement in response to the Supreme Courts decision striking down key provisions of the Voting Rights Act.
Over the past two years, 34 states have implemented or introduced laws designed to disenfranchise American voters. Yet the Supreme Court today made the incomprehensible decision to gut the Voting Rights Act. The right to vote is a cornerstone of our democracy and we should be making access to the ballot easier, not harder. Congress must remedy this disastrous decision by swiftly passing legislation to restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act.
Says the group that 100% supports the parts that was 100% responsible for implementing the VRA in the first place. From the KKK to Jim Crow laws to firehouses and voter fraud, the Democrats have been rigging elections for 150 years.
wow I can’t spell today.
party and fire hoses
You represent a bunch of grocery clerks. Why do you care?
Isn’t your job to get them twenty-cent raises every now and then?
I’ve worked for a UFCW grocery store. Twenty cent raises? Hahahaha. When ever they granted us serfs a .10-.25 cent raise, dues magically go up.
Don’t get me started on the crappy insurance they offer. They said a X-Ray was not necessary for a possible broken or sprained ankle and refused to cover it.
I spent some time in a UFCW shop as a kid. All they ever did was go to bat for employees who darned well deserved to be fired. This included a girl who flipped out on an elderly customer in her line and called her a f***ing b**ch. Was stunned to see her back at work a few weeks later.
How about a employee who was caught staling twice on camera, purposefully concealing merchandise. Got fired by the Manager, whined to the Union, got rehired with back pay.
And they wondered why I refused a “promotion” to a supervisory, er, babysitting position once.
