This is what Governors Cuomo (NY SAFE Act) and Blumenthal (CT), along with Mayor Bloomberg and Mayors Against Illegal Guns, want for every woman in the country. A large home invader broke into a house, and battered a smaller and weaker woman, who was of course unarmed as encouraged by New Jersey's gun laws.
Unfortunately, some lower-class individuals have left racist comments on the video, because the attacker happened to be Black. They need to be reminded that violent white criminals (e.g. KKK) do similar things, or worse, to Black people. In either case, a gun in the hand of the law-abiding citizen is the correct answer.
I don’t think criminal statistics indicate that whites attack blacks in any significant numbers compared to blacks attacking whites or asians or latinos...its just not true...

Unless she carries a pistol all the time, and has practiced both drawing and getting her three year old to hit the floor on command, not to mention being able to put the younger baby down very fast and safely, she wouldn’t have had a chance at getting her weapon out.
A dog, particularly a big dog or two, would have been a deterrent and bought her time.

Yeah, that KKK crime is a plague on the black community, I hear about assaults and lynchings everyday! (when was the last time the KKK actually did anything to a black person? 1965?)

I think Ignatius Piazza of FrontSight also advocates carrying a gun in your home.
On the other hand, if your door will resist forced entry for 15-30 seconds, you have plenty of time to get a gun from a security box.
Millburn has some of the state’s wealthiest residents, particularly in the Short Hills section. It is only a few miles away from East Orange, Irvington, Newark, which are largely underclass ghetto. Easy to feel safe in Millburn when you go to the playground and library and mother’s groups, but you want to live like a Manhattanite in terms of wariness.
I predict this family moves another twenty miles or more west on the train line.
A house nearby has two dogs - one a Chihuahua with Dobie coloring, and the other a Dobie. I call them Early Warning and Armed Response.
Once arrested the press won’t post his mug shot they will go to his family and get a picture of him when he was 8 years old and singing in the church choir to use.

Once you get through that, you have to decide which of two other doors to try, both of which are steel doors from the state prison where hubby worked.
Once you get through *them* you get to face a pissed off 100 pound Dobe and a crazy 100 pound broad with a Beretta because I’ve been sitting in the living room watching you break in on CC TV cameras.
If you look to either side, you’ll notice that you’re also standing in a ‘gauntlet’ of big Boa Constrictors striking at you from within their enclosures.
Most people would crack, right then.
Either way, it just ain’t your day.

Here's my early warning
She lays on the supply cabinet in my art studio, watching out of the picture window 24/7.
If anything moves out there, she goes off and the big dogs leap from the sofas for back-up.
They're why we didn't get hit in the local double 'crime spree' last year.
