AUSTIN Gov. Rick Perry today announced a Special Session of the Texas Legislature will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, July 1. I am calling the Legislature back into session because too much important work remains undone for the people of Texas. Through their duly elected representatives, the citizens of our state have made crystal clear their priorities for our great state. Texans value life and want to protect women and the unborn. Texans want a transportation system that keeps them moving. Texans want a court system that is fair and just. We will not allow the breakdown of decorum and decency to prevent us from doing what the people of this state hired us to do.
The special session will consider the following issues: Legislation relating to the regulation of abortion procedures, providers and facilities.
Legislation relating to the funding of transportation infrastructure projects.
Legislation relating to establishing a mandatory sentence of life with parole for a capital felony committed by a 17-year-old offender. # #

Pinging my Texas list! :)
Good news...hope it works out better the 2nd time!

I left that part out. *sigh*
From what I could see on the news the capitol security did a piss poor job of controlling that mob. That was a disgrace.
It was an embarrassment and should have been better controlled, yes.
I hope those protesters get their asses handed to them by the Texas Rangers and good ol’ corn-fed country boys if they show up again.
He’ll need the TX Rangers this time to handle the loud mouthed protesters.
Surely the sergeant-at-arms or whatever authority they use to keep order could have ordered the gallery cleared.
Bring in some Aggies this time.
I wish he would take up Texas going back to being an independent republic.
Oh I think they’ll be better prepared this time.
These out-of-state rabble-rousers messed with the wrong state.
Perry really is solid. A bit close to the Mexican government for my taste but I can’t expect perfection from a politician. Hopefully they’ll consider the infanticide bill first so the baby killers’ filibusterer has to last weeks.
Thank God for a man with principles who is not intimidated by the loud voices of the WRONG. Way to go, Gov. Perry!
How about a special session for succession.
I’ll bet most of the rabble weren’t even FROM Texas!
He’s got my vote if he runs for POTUS.
I’m about ready for that, too!
The country has gone mad. We need an island of sanity to move to.
Flash mobs don’t work that well in Texas, b*tches. Hope you will like sharing a cell with big fisted Bertha.
As much as I dislike saying it-I find that I must agree with the both of you-our state is being taken advantage of, and things are just getting too out of hand...
