Pathetic. Despite not having the equipment an ambulance carries, she should have at least made sure the proper steps were begin done until an ambulance and equipment arrived.

Confirmed!
EMT worker Melisa Jackson, is taken to central booking after her arrest for official misconduct in the death of Au Bon Pain employee Eutisha Rennix.

Despicable human being!

Aside from the tragedy of two deaths, this person has no remorse for her actions, or lack thereof.

A quick search shows, yep—Melissa’s a Norwegian.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I’m an EMT and honestly there’s nothing an unequipped dispatcher could have done, except show some compassion by remaining with the patient until an ambulance arrived. Never abandon a patient.

I worked in the ER of a large Boston hospital for 20 years. For those of you unfamiliar with Boston the city proudly....PROUDLY...boasts the laziest, shiftiest, surliest most overpaid city employees in the country. But while I was working in that ER the City of Boston Emergency Medical Service ("EMS"..the 911 ambulance) would *never* do that. This woman is a disgrace.I hope the family of the deceased woman sues *her*...*and* her employer....for tens of millions.

Surely, the dispatcher could have checked her airway and attempted to make it easier for her to breathe. At the very least, she could have held her hand and shown some compassion. Heck, even I could have done that, and I have very basic medical training.

Thanks for the picture; but just reading the article already told that story. Even my immigrant neighbors from Africa have told me that when they have to deal with a government agency, they try to get a white person to deal with them because black Americans have such a bad attitude. It’s sad. The comparison could not be more stark, when I see these African immigrants working hard, keeping their property up, striving at work, speaking distinctly, disciplining their children and dressing appropriately.

A year or two ago I was on 34th Street in Manhattan when I saw a man down on the sidewalk.I suspected he was just drunk but couldn't be certain (I'm not an EMT/RN/MD) so I called 911.An FDNY ambulance arrived at the scene within about 2 minutes.I must say I was impressed.

Could the EMT have done an emergency intubation?

Would you refuse to go help out, even if it was unlikely you could do much to help? I doubt that. I’ll bet you would have been back there in a flash.
Even laying someone’s head back can align the airway better, possibly allowing a better flow of air. Who knows how unskilled people had the woman situated? They may have had her sitting up with chin down on her chest, the absolute worst thing they could have done.
This woman wouldn’t even go back and look. Sorry, toss her in a cell and lose the key as far as I am concerned. What an uncaring a$$hole.

That’s why American blacks hate real Africans. The latter come here, get advanced degrees, raise their kids like tiger moms, and remind the former that the only reason American blacks aren’t succeeding is because of themselves.

THIS is why most EMS agencies have protocols requiring EMTs to bring their food outside. All it takes is one nitwit to ruin their reputation.
