MOSCOW, June 26 (RIA Novosti) - The whistleblowing organization WikiLeaks said on its Twitter feed on Wednesday that former CIA employee Edward Snowden, wanted by the United States for leaking state secrets, may be permanently stuck in Russia.
Cancelling Snowden's passport and bullying intermediary countries may keep Snowden permanently in Russia, WikiLeaks said on its Twitter feed, but did not specify the names of intermediary countries.
The United States has issued a warrant for Snowdens arrest on charges of leaking details of a US surveillance program and cancelled his US passport, which Washington says should prevent him from traveling internationally.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that Snowden, whose whereabouts had been the subject of international speculation for the past two days, was in the transit area of a Moscow airport.

I think Putin can still give citizenship unilaterally, or the Russian Duma can.
But Barry and McCainer are claiming that Russia is helping Snowden to spy. So if they provide him with citizenship then that could be used against Snowden and Russia.
I copied and pasted 2 readers’ comments from the Moscow Times:

I wonder what Mr. Putin would do or say if the tables were turned and it was a Russian who had stolen and published some Russian intelligence and had landed in the USA?
disraeli
And if so, do you think the US would just hand over to Russia such a person?
Edvard Snowdensky.
If Iran possessing nukes is not enough for Obama to go to war, Russia unilaterally giving citizenship will not do it either.
After a few weeks, Putin could claim to want to put the issue to rest and make Snowden a citizen.
The US, under Obama, would do just that. Obama gave the doctor, who led to Osama, to the Pakistani’s without an argument.
It’s more than Obama’s technical proceedures that are the problem here. Russia does not extradite political criminals and has no extradition treaty with the USA. Even if Obama provided some wonderfully-written, and proof-laden smoking gun of law breaking, Putin is under no obligation of any kind to extradite him. Thank God he also has the stones to give Obama the finger and just say Nyet.
Snowden only revealed to the American people that we were the targets of a massive internal spying effort. Revealing treason to the people is not treason.
To believe Snowden should be prosecuted, you must believe that domestic spying, intercepting all American communications, NDAA, secret programs administered by secret courts, and secret trials that do not need warrants,, is all somehow “American”.
I remember the old days, when pilots fled the atheistic socialist USSR to find freedom of conscience in the USA. Today, the opposite is often happening. Something I never thought I’d see.
Obama gave the doctor, who led to Osama, to the Pakistanis without an argument.
That’s so very wrong. But it’s typical of Obama.
Maybe Putin will give him his own TV show.
That’s a good point. But here’s the difference. Iran could wipe out hundreds of millions of Americans, but since Obummer’s got Prism, he would get the heads up and he could hide in a nuke shelter. He could then appoint himself President of the US for the rest of his life. However, Snowden could leak some damaging ino. on Obummer that might cause his popularity ratings to plunge. Barry doesn’t care if millions of Christian Americans die since he’s safe, but Snowden leaks could cause harm to his messiah reputation. Fortunately, Barry’s a coward and he’s not gonna wage a war on an army that kick his ass. Russian Bears vs. American Queers. Who do you think will win that battle?
Very well said.
Charges were filed against Snowden on June 14th - why didn’t they evoke his passport at that time? I can’t think of an ulterior motive but I’m pretty sure there is one.
“Meanwhile, Snowden can’t apply for a Russian visa without a valid passport.”
You can’t be serious. If he applies for a Russian Visa, that the Russians would somehow feel constrained and foiled again,,,,simply by DC revoking his passport? Imagine someone requesting political asylum here. Would we even pause because their home government revoked the validity of their passport?
No way.
Barry’s incompetence in action. His goofball aides filed the charges but it took them a few days to figure out that they should revoke Snowden’s passport too. It’s making me wonder if Barry ever received a valid law license.
You are right:
The new super bunker under the White House complex is like a security blanket to Obama. He figures he’ll be safe no matter what.
seeking freedom in russia- wow-
Its making me wonder if Barry ever received a valid law license.
He has no regard for the rule of law or the Constitution. Any license be damned.
But Barry’s claiming Russia helped Snowden spy. If they granted him political asylum it would appear as if these spy allegations might be true. So it would be more foolish to grant him asylum while these charges are on file, but to return Snowden to the US would also appear as an admission of guilt too. So it’s best for him to remain in the transit section of the airport, perhaps for the rest of his life.
