Just how much of a hole did Paula Deen dig for herself?
With the Food Network's announcement that it would not be renewing its contract with the Paula's Home Cooking star, along with QVC distancing itself from the celebrity chef and Smithfield Foods cutting ties with her altogether after she admitted to past use of the N-word and other hurtful remarks, it would seem that Deen's culinary empire is currently up in flames.
But her bank account isn't under as much fire as one might think. Sure, her ranking as Forbes' No. 4 highest-earning celeb chef is definitely at risk...but all is not lost just yet.
"I would estimate the loss of Food Network and Smithfield to be pretty huge," Forbes staff writer Caleb Melby, who estimates that Deen has taken a post-scandal hit of $3 million to $4.5 million, tells E! News

Shoebox? What? This spellcheck...
Kinda like the way 30 million uninsured managed to get Obamacare imposed on 300 million.
It has come to the point that black, who make up about 12% of the population, have become such a protected group that they dictate to the other 88%.
...........................................................
No disrespect meant, but we reached that point 30 years ago.
FNC is now guilty of capitalism! They fired Deen out of pure damage control and trying to avoid income loss.
There are as many left wing tools in that network as in the White Hut.
The FNC commie cooking show hosts constantly speak of “giving back”, “social justice”, “tolerance” and other nifty liberal catch phrases. But I’ll guarantee that most of them are just as guilty of uttering the “n” word and much worse.
It’s hard to feel sorry for Deen, a devout liberal. Just as it’s difficult to feel for Zimmerman...another lefty.
Not being from there or that era, is this, itself, a stereotype, or is this true? Would one use that kind of "slang" in a proper setting like a testifying in a deposition? Just asking. Thanks
It does not count when Oprah uses the N word. It is a common term in black communities, used in jest, curse and description. Walk in any black neighborhood and you will hear it used constantly. So why is it a damnable term when used by whites?
Deen is a big fat slob. The least obnoxious thing about her is the use of the N Word. We live in a theocracy where thoughts and words are more severely punished than lies and violence. And, the protected theocratic doctrine is the hatred and suppression of the traditions of white Christians. For my part, I expect soldiers in the street at any minute, joined by black thugs and illegals.
I still think her big political error was continuing on with her high caloric recipes after she was diagnosed with diabetes. The health Nazis never forgave her for that. Nor the elites who want to get in charge of the food supply. And the obesity haters society.
It didn’t help one bit that her son introduced a show called Not My Mama’s Meals (or something like that).
American Liberals are unnecessarily hyperventilating and completely out of control! They are surpassing EVEN their own capacity for self-inebriation and pointless, insane hysterics!! It gets to a point where the excessive and gratuitous preoccupation with the thing becomes an equally pathological issue, all its own.
She should become active in the Democrat Party and one day she will be Senate Majority Leader.

You are all absolutely correct and each statement is extremely insightful.
With the way this Country is headed, I have seriously begun thinking about where to move - Canada, New Zealand, etc., but I don't want to face my father and forefathers in the Great Beyond and try to explain what happened, and why I gave up on the greatest Country on earth.
My wife is an excellent Southern cook, and I used too watch PD with her occasionally, however, at some point it seemed that PD lost her mooring and ventured into elitist-land. Especially after she was in the movie.
I totally refused to watch her after she went mushy over Carter, and boosted Obama,
However, I agree with an earlier poster who observed that her brother, “Bubba”, seems to have been the offending party in all of this mess.
It’s sad to see a country that surmises that IF someone has used the “N-word - at anytime during a 66-year lifespan, in the Deep South, ever used that word, then they are blatantly guilty of racism and racial discrimination.
Paula’s biggest mistake was that lame apology on video tape. People - especially the media and other liberals - love to kick you when you’re down, and they are at it, full blast.
Sh should have just vowed to look into it, fired her brother, and settled out of court with the WHITE woman who brought the charges.
But, you just can’t fix stupid.
Yeah, she has major problems because she told a would be blackmailer “No”. I love how that part is being ignored and the blackmailer is getting a pass. Never mind the fact that the lawsuit is mostly against Uncle Bubba and sexual harassment. The thought police in this country are insane.
You are absolutely right, it is disgusting to see Paula Deen on TV begging forgiveness for something she supposedly said thirty years ago. Meanwhile clowns like Chris Rock can call white people anything they feel like calling them and idiotic white people sit in the audience and laugh and pay to be insulted.
While readying inmates for court Monday morning, there were two young ones carrying on a conversation. Can you guess what every other word was? If I had asked them not to say the word, and spoke it myself, I would immediately been accused of being a racist and all hell would have broke loose.
I do not know her political affiliation...but when I saw her fawn over Jimmy Carter(my wife watches her show), I had about enough.
she probably is an a-political....and fawns over anyone who has or has had power.
Don't worry about it. Somewhere in your family tree, unless you are 100% Indian, an ancestor or two gave up on their nation and came here. You do what is best for you and yours. I emigrated from NYC to America 12 years ago. Now I'm kinda old and have decided I'm gonna die here....one way or another. As to explaining what happened, it's simple. We were outnumbered by idiots and parasites.
Gaaack !
Partially true. I think Asians don’t care about any group period. They seem to handle their business far better than any other minority group and don’t have to use their race as a crutch as blacks and hispanics do.
Probably at least as much as its cost Michael Richards.
