Just how much of a hole did Paula Deen dig for herself?
With the Food Network's announcement that it would not be renewing its contract with the Paula's Home Cooking star, along with QVC distancing itself from the celebrity chef and Smithfield Foods cutting ties with her altogether after she admitted to past use of the N-word and other hurtful remarks, it would seem that Deen's culinary empire is currently up in flames.
But her bank account isn't under as much fire as one might think. Sure, her ranking as Forbes' No. 4 highest-earning celeb chef is definitely at risk...but all is not lost just yet.
"I would estimate the loss of Food Network and Smithfield to be pretty huge," Forbes staff writer Caleb Melby, who estimates that Deen has taken a post-scandal hit of $3 million to $4.5 million, tells E! News

So take heed, Republican compromisers.
When she was asked about whether she’d ever used that word, she simply should’ve responded, “I don’t recall.”
It works for dems all the time.
Here’s the thing, though — she is one of their own, having fawned over Ol’ Peanut Head Jimmy and MOTUS on her program. She fully qualifies for recognition as being hoisted upon her own petard. That’s what has got to hurt since she thought that would get her some cred with that crew yet they’re on her like the hyenas they are.
She still has High Lord Obama, Lady Obama, the crew on The View and The Chew .... oh, wait, I don’t suppose those folks will want anything to do with her now, since she once used a word you hear every 10 seconds on the radio thirty years ago after a mugging.
It has come to the point that black, who make up about 12% of the population, have become such a protected group that they dictate to the other 88%.
I wonder how entitlements for being lazy and non-productive and govt housing is viewed by others outside the US...i always thought it was a kind of “paid slavery” and “containment” - but some articles have pointed out that those milking the system are making $60K a year!
Obama-phones being touted as a way to sign up and then sell it for shoes or drugs - only brings attention to the lowest level of mental awareness of not achieving something on your own...there are no work ethics, no desire to build ones self up, no merit in creation of products for those that voted this current administration in...but yet the MSM seems to think that one woman making jokes should be destroyed. Why? Because she’s successful and they want to divert everyone’s attention back to the “Media Colosseum” for the next grotesque fight instead of paying attention to Emperor Zero and the train wreck that he has been and will continue to be???
There are far more important issues at hand than this...and don’t tell me Oprah hasn’t done the same thing! Isn’t nice how the liberals excuse some, but not others.
Food Network can KMA. It’s their albatross to be based in NYC - but they can still KMA. I may just blast down to Savannah to support Paula. SHE USED THE N WORD!!! GASP
On another forum, I said blacks should be held to the same standard and should be fired if they use racist language against non-blacks. Predictably I was immediately called a racist.
I understand what she said from a long time ago. What she should have said now was “so what? blacks call eacho ther that word every day.....Your point is?” The end result of whats happening to her would be the same. It kills me when whites go “oh my gosh I’m so sorry, it was so wrong”. As long as blacks use that word I will to.
God hands down the Ten Commandments to Moses and mankind and there’s NOT ONE - if broken - that will get a person fired from Food Network...
Maybe the 11th was ‘Thou shalt not call people names...” God missed the important one...
I have mixed emotions on this. She is a far left loon but I don’t think she’s smart enough to understand the policies of the left are/have destroyed the country. I think at best she is one of Stalin’s useful idiots. Watching the left eat their own is always fun. On the other hand I doubt if there is anything to the recent lawsuits. Yes, she used the N-word in a deposition nearly 30 years ago. So what? She grew up in south GA in the 1950s and 1960s. EVERYONE used the n-one in normal conversation. She has tried to accommodate the changing standards imposed on white people by black people today. On her show she is nauseatingly obsequious to any black people on her show. She fawned all over “Peanut Brain” Carter. If there is any residual racism in her, and there probably is, she does her best to deny and hide it.
It has come to the point that black, who make up about 12% of the population, have become such a protected group that they dictate to the other 88%.
Wait until the Hispanic population gets larger. They are going to tell blacks where to shove it. The minority groups hate each other. Blacks hate Hispanics and Asians. Hispanics hate blacks and Asians. Asians hate blacks and Hispanics.
I expected better of Smithfield Foods. Or Shangui, or whatever it’s called now. PC is taking over. My country is terminal.
I hope she loses all her millions over this. Less money for her to give to Obama’s campaign.
Good for her!
Heck, Tim Russert could recall his “first time in 100 years” catchphrase on the witness stand in what was, ironically, a perjury trial for Scooter Libby.
I read the court document of allegations by Jackson. Seems it’s more her brother than Paula Deen. If true, he’s particularly vile white trash. We’ll see. It’s one thing accusing and another proving.
After she made a public crack about the Wookie's huge appetite, Paula Deen was DOOMED. Finding a way to destroy her just too a year of calling in favors and finding some stooges. Not that we feel too sorry for her, but she was an example of the viciousness of the left when crossed.
Actually, she's a warning not just to her fellow shoebox liberals but to all if us, what the WH will do when unhappy.
There was a story on a Springfield , MO tv station last night about the web site “ The Food channel” and how it was being confused with “ THE FOOD NETWORK”.
They were getting lots of comments requesting them not to fire PD. After pointing out that they do not employ PD the post then went to “Well hire her then!”
The lady who runs the site said she has contacted PD and is trying to get her aboard.
